Tips on how to lose weight around waist and under bust for my wedding dress please!

CC, on July 24, 2023 at 7:16 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

Help please! I measured myself today and I've put on a few centimeters on both my waist and under bust. My dress is a corset bodice so is fitted to my shape from my final fitting a couple of months ago.

Any advice on how to shift weight here quickly please? My wedding is less than 3 weeks away and I'll be reunited with my dress in 2 weeks. It's with my parents in Scotland as I'm in Central America at the moment.

Thank you Smiley smile

There’s no way to spot reduce your weight. Your best bet is to drink a lot of water and stay away from foods that bloat you (high sodium is usually a big culprit) and continue any physical activity you usually do, maybe ramping it up a bit (but don’t overdo it and hurt yourself).

You can't lose weight in just those areas. Overall weight loss when done reasonably would be the best bet for fitting comfortably into your dress.

I agree with Hannah that reducing bloating can work wonders in those areas. If you’re only a couple centimeters over, even just a quick loss of water weight could be helpful (which is the easiest weight to lose). Consult with a doctor before drastically changing your diet, but if you eliminate foods that make you bloat and just generally bump up exercise and eat healthier/watch your calorie intake for the next couple weeks (maintain a healthy level, don’t starve yourself), you should be fine.

Girl ignore these ladies. You can lose inches everywhere with weight loss. i would say set a goal for 15-20 lbs! I have gotten the heaviest i have been and i actually ordered my gown 3 sizes smaller because i could not envision myself as a size 16 on my wedding day. I have yo-yo'd my whole life and have lost 30 lbs at least twice before. I drank a lot in my mid 20's and got pretty heavy from booze. I stopped drinking and started working 60 hour weeks and the weight flew off... After i had my son Breast feeding and power walking shed the extra 29 lbs i put on during pregnancy... This time around i'm changing my portion sizes. What you eat now, cut it in half! don't eat from 8pm 8am. This is fasting. You will notice in just a couple days your waist starting to come back in... just stay consistent and don't give up!! you got this! WE GOT THIS!

Hi and welcome to wedding wire! Just as FYI, that bride's wedding was three weeks from the day she wrote that post. I'm not sure why you're advising her to ignore the advice given. It's impossible to lose 15-20 pounds in three weeks.

It's actually not impossible. Kim Kardashian lost 17 lbs in 3 weeks in order to fit into the Marilyn Monroe "Happy birthday to JFK Dress" for the American themed 2022 MET GALA. Not to mention She WAS TINY! already pre Met gala. When your thinner than 150 weight is harder to drop.. so the fact that she was able to lose it that fast proves my point 10 fold. If you are a heavier person weight comes off much easier and faster.. On "my 600 lb life" Obese 600lb patients can lose up to 100 lbs in 2 months eating 1200 calories a day VS their normal intake of 7,000 calories a day. It's simple math. Couture fashion and crash diets go hand in hand. It's about cutting your calorie intake and burning off excess stores. If your disciplined and consistent it is not impossible. What you told her had no advice what so ever, no encouragement.. you say that it's impossible. IN MY OPINION You can lose weight in a short amount of time, sure you "can" gain it back if you don't stick to a healthy lifestyle. If you continue to work on your diet it will stay off. I didn't know that her date already past though.. so my advice was too late but i'm sure she fit into her dress and looked beautiful. Why are you even pointing that out? who cares? she wanted advice on how to fit into a garment in a short amount of time. I gave my opinion. I honestly don't care I know i'm right and I don't need your opinion. You need to read up on weight loss and just Keep your comment to yourself next time.

I'm pointing it out because it's not overly cool to tell someone to ignore all the posters on the thread, and what you're advising is neither safe or effective.

Also, I guess I'll just tuck my medical degree in the garbage, then, lol.

Lol seriously You can keep that old knowledge to yourself then, doc.

If someone wants diet tips to help them lose centimeters so they can fit into their dress i'm going to give my honest opinion (that's also backed up by math and scientific evidence) That the harder a person restricts their diet and the more they work out ends in more weight being lost.

You telling a woman who wants to fit into their dress that it's unattainable, not safe, or IMPOSSIBLE isn't overly cool. She was looking for advice and support. Not to be patronized.

I'm not going to argue math or science with you, but I will go ahead and advocate for safety when I see it.

No-one patronized her, we were honest with her.
