Tips for Breaking in Wedding Shoes :)

DC Julie, on June 4, 2014 at 3:04 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

In honor of my shoes arriving today, I thought I would share these tips:

http://www.myonlineweddinghelp.com/bridal-news/wedding-products/find-accessories/how-to-break-in-shoes

Also, I finally got smart with formal shoes. I ordered them in wide. This will allow me to have extra space to add cushions to the bottom. Normally, I cant because it makes the area too tight and my toes end up with cuts from the shoe's seams, etc.

What other tips do you have, ladies?

I'm a big fan of the sock trick for breaking in heels, makes the break in process a lot faster. Although you have to make sure to only use thin socks so they don't get stretched too much.

Like Silan I use the sock trick for breaking in shoes. I just put on a pair of really big fuzzy socks, get the shoe on my foot, and then hang out and watch TV while occasionally flexing my feet. I don't do it for very long but after a night or two they are extra comfortable to wear!

I once heard something about putting a baggy of water in the shoes and putting them in the freezer. I've never tried it though. I hadn't really thought about breaking in my shoes before this post. But that will have to wait, I sprained my ankle recently.

It never occurred to me to seriously break in the shoes until this popped up on pinterest while I was looking for cute shoes.

I'm definitely going to break them in for a few weeks before the wedding, so that will be me, King (minus the great legs and adorable outfit).

I did the bag of water thing. It worked for me! Smiley smile

I was going to try the hair dryer thing, but didn't want to risk wrecking the lace.

My feet are slightly different sizes... I AM A MONSTER!!! AHHHH.

So my left shoe always fits perfect, and then the right one is slightly too snug. So I have become a master at "breaking in shoes". The trick that I use is this: Put on a thick pair of socks, or thin if not much stretching is needed. Put the shoes on, and point a hairdryer at the shoes for about 30 seconds to heat up the material. Move your toes around while the hair dryer is pointed at the shoes, especially in the most tight area. Let the shoe cool for about a min, and then do this again. After a few sets of this, your shoes will be perfect!

I do this to almost every set of heels I purchase, because of my strange feet Smiley smile And it works like a charm!

I broke in my shoes by wearing them around the house while DH was at work, then I rocked them at the rehearsal dinner. DH was too stupid to realize they're the same shoes, especially since I have so flipping many, haha
