Timeline for lunch wedding?

Rebecca, on January 5, 2019 at 3:03 AM Posted in Planning 1 5

We think we found the place where we want to have our ceremony and reception (1 site vs. 2 was a must for us). It's a steakhouse and they only do lunch time weddings in order to have the whole place (otherwise it's renting a private room for dinner and having the ceremony off site).

That said, the reception would have to end at 3PM which seems fairly early. We are planning a small wedding with maybe 60-75 people so we get the vibe will be different (not a huge deal to us as we aren't a real dance party type and neither are most of the people we are inviting). I just cannot quite figure out a timeline for this.

11:00 ceremony

11:30-12:30 wine and cheese at the bar area with 3 tray-passed hors d’oeuvres, get family photos done

12:30-3:00 lunch (salad, entree, cake/dessert table), a few dances, music would just be something relaxing in the background, hopefully no speeches, thank guests, and cut cake

Does this timeline make sense? Not sure if this is rushed, but I've only been to 2 weddings (ever!). Would sometime between 10-11 be too early? It would be on a Sunday so no work traffic.

    I think it sounds really lovely and your timeline should work out - there’s time to mingle and chat as well as eat.

    Sounds good! We are doing a brunch wedding as well, so our ceremony starts at 11:30am and everything has to end by 5pm.

    Seems perfect! We're doing lunch too and our timeline is about the same, we're only starting 30 minutes earlier than you because we wanted an extra long cocktail hour. What you described seems so lovely.

    Hey Rebecca! I think this timeline sounds great! It seems like there is enough time to have everything you want done within it! It sounds like such a cool venue!

    We’ve also chosen a luncheon wedding with this same timeframe. However our venue is one location and we aren’t serving alcohol. This is what our timeline looks like if it helps;
