Timeline for 6 pm wedding?

Ashley589, on December 28, 2015 at 3:45 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

I'm a little bit nervous about having enough time for photos, dinner, dancing, etc.

And I am dead-set AGAINST having a first look. I am crazy traditional here!!

Any of you having a 6pm wedding and want to share your timeline?? Pretty sure my venue is kicking us out at 11 pm!

    You could do 6 - 6:30 ceremony, cocktail hour and pictures from 6:30 - 7:30 and then reception from 7:30 - 11?

Here's what I'm working with. Our ceremony starts at 6:30pm:

    11am: Hair and make up

    2pm: Videographer arrives

    4pm: Photographer arrives

4pm-6pm: Bridal party pictures (separate if we don't do a first look...still deciding on that), family pictures

6pm-6:30pm: Make our way to bridal suite at ceremony site, touch up and relax

    6:30pm: Ceremony

7pm-8:30pm: Cocktail hour (my venue does a 90-minute one so if we don't do a first look, we will take all group pictures during this time)

    8:30pm-1am: Reception

I had a 6pm wedding but we did a first look so my timeline won't help you. How long will your ceremony be?

We are just doing a traditional ceremony with no extra traditions so I'd say 30 minutes tops!

I have 7 bridesmaids so I have no clue how long hair/makeup will take....

My timeline is pretty similar, just an hour earlier. You can easily cut out a few things (late night snacks) and make your dancing time just a little shorter.

11:00 am- Call time for Hair & Makeup (4 hours)

12:00 pm - Call time for Groomsmen getting ready

1:00 pm - Call time for Photographer (Getting ready shots)

2:00 pm - Groomsmen Photographs & Groom portraits

3:00 pm - Bridesmaid Photographs & Bride portraits

4:30 pm - Invitation time for Ceremony

5:00 pm - Actual start time for Ceremony

    5:30 pm - Cocktail hour

5:30 pm - Bridal Party portraits

    6:00 pm - Family/Couple portraits

    6:30 pm - Couple portraits

    7:00 pm - Dinner starts

    7:15-45 pm - Toasts

    8:00 pm - 10:00 pm - Espresso Cart service

8:30 pm - Dinner service ends

    8:45 pm - Cake cutting

    9:00 pm - First Dance

    9:10 pm - Dancing

10:30 pm - Late Night Snacks

    11:00 pm - Last Call

Ashley, You should ask your hair stylist (or whomever you're hiring if you're doing that) for an estimate on how long hair & makeup should take. You might want to hire a couple of people for that many people (and if you mothers, flower girls, etc want hair & makeup done, you'll need to factor that in). I have 6 bridesmaids & 11 women that will likely have some combination of hair & makeup professionally done.

Also, create an order for when people will do each so you have yourself timed appropriately & don't have someone double booked to get both done at the same time or people sitting around with nothing to do.
