Timeline Feedback?

Amber, on August 7, 2019 at 10:14 AM Posted in Planning 0 7

I might be the only person scheduling my wedding down to the minute (hopefully, I added a few buffers along the way), looking for some thoughts and suggestions for the timeline I've come up with! Our ceremony is on a Sunday afternoon and I'm planning to end no later than 8:30PM. The vast majority of our guests live in the area, so travelers aren't a big concern, just want to get everyone home at a decent hour if they decide to work the next day. So this is what I've got! (We also have two photographers so I've cut the photography sessions a bit shorter than suggested)

9:00 Arrive at venue to begin setup

11:30 Brief lunch break/begin getting ready

1:00 Pre-wedding photos (bride w/ her family, groom w/ his family, bride & bridesmaid, groom & groomsmen)

2:00 Finish photos to return to bride/groom suite (snack, relax, shake the nerves lol)

2:30 Early bird guests start to arrive

3:00 Invite time

3:10 Ceremony Begins (to accommodate late comers if necessary)

3:35 Ceremony Ends/Guests move to reception area

3:40 Cocktail Hour/Post Ceremony Photos

4:40 Introduction of Bride & Groom/First Dance

4:50 Welcome (Father of the Bride)

5:00 Dinner begins (buffet style)

6:00 Toasts

6:15 Father/Daughter & Mother/Son Dances

6:30 Dancing! (Want to note I didn't but a whole bunch of dancing time on the schedule, just not a big dancing crowd)

7:30 Cake cutting

7:40 Sneak away with photographer for sunset photos

7:55 Bouquet/garter toss

8:05 Last dance

8:15 Send off

I'm sorry if that was waaaayy to detailed, but wedding planning is all my brain wants to do right now lol. Any and all thoughts and suggestions are appreciated!!

My wedding is similar, I’m also doing everything down to the minute and I would like it to happen exactly at that time lol. I have the first dance scheduled at 7:53

This is how detailed a timeline should look so you're good there. I did note that you only gave yourself and your party 1.5 hours to get ready. Are you using a professional to do your hair and makeup and that of your bridal party? If so, your trial with them will determine how long you'll need for each service. Generally, the bride takes 2 hours for professional hair and makeup (about 1 hour for each service) and the other people usually take anywhere from 30-45 minutes per service.

Do you need to clean up/tear down the venue at the end of the night?

I allotted 1.5 hours to get ready just because we're a pretty simple group. My girls will be doing their own hair and makeup and I'll be doing my own makeup and just having a stylist for my hair. As for the clean up/tear down, that has me considering if we should invest in a day-of-coordinator. Still on the fence for it, but I don't want my family to have to stay behind and clean up any mess.

Looks great! Mine is also planned very much to the minute, and I have several different timelines for each person who needs one (for example, I have a bridal party timeline, an MC timeline, a dinner vendor timeline, my point person timeline, etc) I think it's imperative to have one if you don't have a wedding coordinator. Here's my bridal party timeline: (I blocked out personal information)

I have a question, did your photographer tell you to block out almost 2 hours for the wedding party photos or is that to incorporate travel time? I ask because my photographer only allotted 45 minutes lol so now im worried I did not set aside enough time

Good question - she books on an hourly basis - travel time to & from the venue to photos is about 20 minutes total - taking photos on the university campus I had to take parking & walking into consideration as well so I rounded up to 2 hours to be safe Smiley smile
