Timeline Assistance: Intermission?

Christine, on July 14, 2020 at 11:03 PM Posted in Planning 0 8
Looking for advice on including an intermission in our wedding timeline when the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception are all at the same venue? Hoping to use the intermission time to transfer some of the ceremony florals to the reception space to save on cost, but not sure if it’s bad etiquette to include an intermission if everything is at the same venue. For context, our ceremony is outdoors and cocktail hour/ reception is in the same space indoors (within the ballroom). We plan on doing a first look and taking most bridal party photos before the ceremony to cut down on time in between the ceremony and cocktail hour. Thank you!

This is usually what cocktail hour is for. What do you expect your guests to do during this time? This seems rather inconvenient.

The venue should take care of that during cocktail hour. It shouldn’t be something you have to worry about yourselves

Your cocktail hour will give you plenty of time for this very reason. Venues know how to flip rooms and move things around. Just talk to them about it and make a plan. It’ll work out!!

Both my wedding and reception is at the same venue. During cocktail hour, the venue will switch the room around for the reception. That is their job. I wouldn't worry about that. If you have any concerns, just talk to the venue.

Your cocktail hour will be used to move your florals and rearrange for your reception. The venue staff should take care of all of this for you.

If everything is at the same venue, there is no intermission. Many times the events are in the same room where typically the setup is for reception and guests simply sit at assigned seats then get up for the cocktail hour.

You don't need an intermission for this. If your venue won't move the flowers for you, your bridal party/immediate family can do it during cocktail hour.
