Time off from work before/after wedding

Em, on February 15, 2022 at 3:00 PM Posted in Community Conversations 5 19
Curious how many days or weeks off of work did you or are you planning to take before and after wedding? We are not doing a honeymoon immediately after so just wondering how much time we want to recoup after. Also wondering realistically how busy I’ll be the week prior to the wedding and wondering if I should take the week off!!

I am taking 2 days before the wedding which is on a Saturday taking 6 days for my honeymoon which is only 5 days but I'm taking a day to rest after the honeymoon. I am only planning to take 2 days before my wedding for the last-minute errands I need to do and to not be stressed with work and wedding stuff all in one day.

I am taking two and a half days off before the wedding, and will be back at work on the Monday after my wedding (we're getting married on a Friday).

My wedding is on a Thursday so I am taking off starting the Monday before and a full 10 days after for a honeymoon if we end up going on one right after. If not, it will just be a good break!

I took 2 days off before the wedding and 3 days off afterwards - our wedding was the Friday of Labor Day weekend (so I had Monday off already) and would've been fine with just 1 day off if we had it on a Saturday with work on Monday, but we also had a lot of out-of-town guests and it was nice to have the extra time Saturday, Sunday, and even Monday to spend with them!

I am taking off Friday for my Saturday wedding, and the whole next week for our honeymoon. If I didn't take the honeymoon, I probably would have gone back to work Monday.

Right now I'm planning on taking at least Friday off before our Saturday wedding, probably Thursday as well. I will also be taking the next week off because our Honeymoon is Monday-Thursday.

I plan on using my vacation days which is 5 days. Wedding day is on a Tuesday and I already have Wednesday-Friday off. So I'll be taking 5 days plus my 3 days which I have off.

I'll probably be the outlier here. I'm getting married the Friday before Labor Day, I'm taking the whole week of the wedding and the week after off. I also have an absurd amount of PTO from my job, and one of my requirements for work is I NEED to take 2 consecutive weeks of PTO so I figured I may as well use it for the wedding.

I work a 9-5 M-F job, the Monday before the wedding we need to drop all of our signage and decor off at the venue and I didn't want to try to figure out how to do that with needing to work that day as well. I also plan on having a hair appt and nail appt, finalizing the bridal party gifts, and simply relaxing.

The week after we already have Monday off cause it's Labor Day, but I wanted a week to just recharge, I know the weddings going to take a lot out of me and the whole weekend will be spent socializing which to be honest is not my favorite and really just emotionally draining to me so I want a day to just lounge around and not worry about anything. I also want to clean our house, get all the wedding stuff we've been having lay around the house for over a year away and just start our marriage off on a clean organized house.

Probably 2 days off before the wedding, which is on a Saturday, and 2 weeks off after. We're going on our honeymoon 2 days after the wedding so that's what the 2 weeks are for.

I took the Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday before our Saturday wedding and then didn't go back to work till the next Wednesday. We were getting married in between the point of our two extended families so it was nice having Wednesday and Thursday to pack and double-check everything. Then Friday we went and checked into the hotel had our rehearsal dinner and my girls and I got our nails done and my husband and his friends went partying. Then we stayed at our hotel till Monday. We went to the courthouse to file our paperwork before heading home. Then we just relaxed on Tuesday. We also didn't take our honeymoon right after and it felt like the right amount of time to take off.

Our wedding is on the 26th of February - a Saturday. The venue is about 1.5-2 hours' drive, and we do have things to drop off at the venue the day before, so I decided to take Wednesday - Friday next week off - I have all my beauty appointments - manicure, pedicure, waxing, etc on the Wednesday, I plan to spend Thursday packing for our honeymoon, organising anything last-minute and doing a final check with all our vendors, and then the Friday morning we will drive down, stopping on the way to sign some documents with our celebrant before heading to the venue.

Then we leave for our honeymoon on Tuesday, and will return on Sunday, so I'm taking that whole week as well. In total, 8 days off from work!

As a teacher, I only get 4 “personal” days off a school year, so I took Thursday, Friday, and Monday off for my Saturday wedding.

Our wedding is on Sunday and I’m taking this Thu and Fri off for any last minute packing, as we rented a condo at the location where we’re getting married. Monday is a holiday and, then, I have Tuesday off as well. I know I’ll need the time to recuperate!

Last August, I took off 2 days before my Saturday wedding to drop off welcome bags, specialty liquor, and favors and greet my out of town family. I had my nails done Wednesday evening with my fiance. Went back to work Monday for pre-service as I'm school Admin. 6 months later, we are taking our Honeymoon next week. Try not to wait that long for your honeymoon, if you can help it.
