Time at venue

Amanda, on April 20, 2019 at 12:47 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 13
So I only have a 5 hrs for my cocktail hour and reception. My wedding is on a Sunday at 5pm in October and it is outside so we had to start our ceremony at 5 before sunset. My question is...is 1030 to early for a wedding reception to end? I know that sounds crazy to ask but I feel like it is. My friends told me it isnt because it's a Sunday evening wedding... I dont know!

I don't think so.. especially not for a Sunday. Depending on how far the venue is to my home, I may even have to leave earlier than that if I had to work the next morning.

It's not too early even if it were on a Sat, but especially not for a Sun wedding

Not at all. Mine is on a Saturday night and will end at that time. Honestly, for a Sunday evening, as a guest I usually head out around 9:30pm.

No it’s not. It’s a reasonable time. My wedding is on a Sunday and reception ends at 9:00 pm. My wedding starts at 3:30 pm.

I think that’s actually too late for a Sunday.

I had to go take a look at my contract to doublecheck and mine ends around the same time as yours! I actually think that's pretty normal for any evening wedding. A lot of weddings that I've attended usually end on time and if it's still a great party...they go off to another bar!

I think 10:30 is fine, I would just build cushion in the timeline. You might consider doing pictures before the ceremony at another location (park?)
