On June 21st, we met with the owner of the venue we chose, originally to talk about providing desserts for our wedding which we were thinking about having elsewhere. Her place was really cute so we decided to have the wedding there. I emailed her later that day and said we wanted to do it there.

A week later I emailed her with all kinds of questions and asked when we needed to sign the contract, pay deposit, etc. She didn't respond so I called her and said I wanted to make sure we had that space for our date before I schedule officiant, photog, etc. She said to get back with those people because the space is ours and she will draft up my contract.

Well now it's a few weeks later and I haven't heard from her. She doesn't really respond to emails.

My mom said maybe she isn't contacting me yet because it's still so early. Really? It's three months away. It doesn't seem early at all. How much time do I have before I really need to plan the particulars with that venue?

Yea. It's probably a good idea to get in touch with them tomorrow. If you can't look up on line to see who is over the ownership.

My FH was originally waiting to propose until August but I pressured him into May (I'm not crazy, really... we just want to be married before he starts residency next summer) because we really, really have to get the wedding out of the way before July 2016. The venue was the first thing I did, and we put the deposit down over 11 months out.

My venue could not do enough in interesting us in signing, going out of their way to accommodate our requests and willing to make concessions on required things to give us what we wanted. Most places really want that contract, because that means a generally non-refundable deposit and guaranteed money. The fact that the venue you have in mind doesn't seem to see this as a priority is very, very alarming.

3 months away isn't early. I had my

venue contract signed 18 months before the wedding. It's a popular/busy time of year for weddings. Don't put this off!
