Thoughts on venue?

Thoughts on venue? 1
Our wedding is officially October 24, 2020. This venue, Clever Barn is $1,000 for 8 hours, access to EVERYTHING including a fire pit and fireworks at the end. We literally just rent this place and provide whatever we want.

We went to tour it today. Looks beautiful and nice. I kept saying that while i was there even. My mom and his mom both love the place. But as i go back and look at pictures on the facebook page I feel it looks like a smoking/drinking lounge than a place to hold a wedding reception. To me it looks like a hang out spot in a barn that club (bikers) can go to to have a break. I dont know if its just the facr its on the owners home property, or the little things inside the barn that brings back childhood memories of my grandmothers garage being a smoke and biker lounge.
Upstairs feels okay and perfect to me. Not so much the down stairs. The downstairs looks kind of cluttered to me, but didnt to FH. Nothing can go and our dinner would have to take place both upstairs and downstairs as our guest count is 80 and 50 can be seated both and downstairs. 80 without seatingThe outside of the place is perfect. Kids area for the children to play in, huge fire bit, big yard for everyone to hang out and take pictures etc.
I just dont want my reception to turn into a hang out spot rather than a memorable, fun, wedding night.Thoughts on venue? 2

It is not exactly much of a looker from some stand points but did you like the look while you were there? Can you decorate it for it to look bridal and maybe have it outside more? I love the hanging lights and I feel the outside looks lovely which is where you could have the ceremony and reception. I feel some places look great in photos and not in person and vice versa. Also, don't you want people to hang out and have a good time at your wedding. To me a hang out spot is a good time rather a very formal reception in which I feel I am not able to relax and chill. Plus that price is not bad.

Our ceremony is at a different location. Reading your comment actually gave an idea to see if we can have a dinner outside and jump inside for dancing, games, etc. Being outside may help more.

I absolutely loved the place while i wss there in person. I guess im just not a fan of the pictures. Lol.

Pictures lie lol. Also, I am biased and I love the whole hanging lights outside (I wish I could emulate that for my patio lol) and I am not sure where you live but October can be nice weather where you can have a nice outdoor reception which indoor option for those that may want to sit indoors. I like your idea of the dinner outdoors and inside for dancing and games. You maybe can even have some outside games like cornhole or life size checkers. I think it is a cute venue and if you all loved in person then go for it. Smiley smile

Nothing like Florida though. Our winter is basically spring. This is the longest week we have had consistent cold and I mean 67 degrees maybe 50's low lol. October could still be hot ha ha. I think the twister sounds fun. I think something relaxing and fun where everyone could have a good time. I am sure your day will be lovely and people will like.

Oh no worries. We all second guess a lot of things it is natural. We want the perfect day. Good luck with the planning.

I love the lights, the upstairs and the outdoors space. If you have the budget, it might be worth hiring a decorator to make the downstairs feel more bridal, or see if you can do furniture rentals to bring in other tables and chairs. The space itself is fantastic, especially for the price! A little decoration can go a long way to making it feel bridal Smiley smile

Go with what your heart is telling you. It seems as if your apprehensive about it, so I wouldn't jump on board just yet. Give yourself sometime to think about it and search for other venues in the mean time. 😊
