Thoughts on a cigar bar?

I was at a bridal show that had a booth with a cigar bar. They come and set up a table with an attendant, that rolls and cuts cigars. Has anyone had this at their wedding or planning on having one?

    1. Check with your venue if it's allowed, many places it's not.

    2. I thought about it, but went to a wedding where people were getting sick from mixing too much alcohol, dairy, and cigars. Disaster.

    3. Also at that same wedding nobody was on the dance floor, everyone was in the outside smoking area where the cigars set up. it took a while and people mingled over there. I'm selfish and want people dancing with me

I loved this idea and thought of surprising FH with a cigar bar for our wedding. However, after seeing how close the quarters of our venue are (which is great for our small wedding of 50) I decided against it due to smell/smoke. There isn't really anywhere for people to sneak away and smoke. If that's a concern for you though I think they would still make great "favors"! (Although I don't think all your guests will participate)

We're doing a cigar bar no roller. Just humidors with a variety of cigars. Rolled cigars don't taste the same and aren't dry. We're getting married on the Dominican Republic(my nationality) and he's a cigar smoker as well as some of our guests. But find out from your venue their guidelines and ask someone that knows cigars for suggestions. Good luck!

Personally, I don't like smoking and I'd be afraid of triggering people's asthma (although, I do live in the part of the country that is known for having the worst air, so about 1/4 of the people I know have asthma). But, I've seen pictures of a wedding that had it, and it turned out very beautiful and was at a wedding where the crowd definitely appreciated it.

My friend is having one at her wedding, however knowing that cigar smoke will literally give me a migraine and make me hurl, she is having it away form the main festivities and literally roping it in as a smoking section. I love her-i didn't even ask to be seated away, she just informed me that, we're having this, but i love you so i'm doing this.

Make sure it's in a well ventilated area and away from everyone else, so many health concerns (asthma) plus the smell is nauseating for so many.

We had a very small wedding in our backyard and everyone invited knows DH is an everyday cigar smoker. Most of the people there, are also cigar smokers. We had ours (which I reclaimed myself) on our patio. Most of the festivities were in the grass on the other side of our house. He brought his humidor he keeps at work, home for it (it's was in the part that pulls down in the middle) and provided torches and cutters that were his. (one photo not taken from wedding night - it was how it was supposed to be decorated, however, my dogs kept eating the moss and flowers on the lower shelf so they had to be moved hahahaha)

I would not recommend a cigar bar unless you have a designated area away from most of the wedding festivities and you have a majority of guests that are avid cigar smokers.

I am in no way a smoker. With that said, I like the smell of a good cigar. Cigarette smoke makes me extremely ill though.

The smell is revolting. I'm in a family of smoke-triggered asthmatics. Even if you were doing this 100 yards outside the building where the reception is being held, guests eventually come back inside. We couldn't stand it if those guests came within 10 feet of us.

I was just thinking about it after seeing it displayed at the bridal show. There is a smoking section away from the venue that smoking would be allowed. The company also stated the attendant is responsible for cleaning up the area after the people smoke their cigars. Whatever is left over can be taken home as a favors. It is just a thought for me now.

FH and his friends are cigar enthusiast, they actually meet up and have "smokes." all his friends weddings have either a cigar bar or some area where they leave cigars out in a box for guest to enjoy. We are looking into a cigar bar where they guy comes and freshly rolls the cigars, the thing that turned me off was the 2 hour minimum, I didn't think we needed them that long. But the guy said he would work with us if we decide to just do an hour or something. Otherwise a cheaper option is to go to a cigar shop or order online some "good cigars" usually come in sets of 20 (maybe order 2 sets of 20) and set them out with a nice framed sign. I've seen some that say "In Celebration of Our Marriage, Please Enjoy a Smoke on Me. -Groom" or B&A. The cigars probably $100 for 2 good sets (cigar shop should give you an empty wooden box for free), Framed sign MAYBE $5, add a couple cutters $10, and then a lighter (if you don't already have a cigar lighter which is expensive, just add those long plastic lighters) those should be about $5. If you have the outdoor space at your venue I think its a nice touch (at least my FH likes it) bc many men think the wedding is all about the bride and girly things (flowers, linens, things they care nothing about) so its not a bad idea to spend $150 on something he and some of the guest would enjoy. Plus even if they don't all get smoked some will take them as favors.

Wood matches are also an option. A lot of cigar smokers do enjoy using the long wood matches if they don't have a torch.

I would not recommend buying online before your wedding, if you don't have a humidor.

I would recommend going to cigar shops/bars in your area. They should store cigars properly. No one likes a dried out cigar.

Oh and as far as ppl not enjoying the reception/dancing, usually when I've seen them done its during the happy hour so it shouldn't take away from the reception/dancing.

I LOVE cigars. I went to a wedding last summer with a cigar bar and it was awesome! It was a huge hit with the guests!

Most venues don't allow smoking, and you'll end up pissing the non smokers off if they did.

I'm a little worried that so many people seem to think the smoking is going on indoors.
