Thoughts on a cigar bar?

mellymel, on January 28, 2016 at 8:26 AM Posted in Planning 0 34

I was at a bridal show that had a booth with a cigar bar. They come and set up a table with an attendant, that rolls and cuts cigars. Has anyone had this at their wedding or planning on having one?

I don't know anyone in my family who smokes cigars so this would be a waste for me. However, I have seen it at other weddings and there were a lot of cigar lovers there who really enjoyed it. Just gotta know your crowd!

Would it be inside your reception area? The smell bothers some people (not me, I actually love it, but do you want to come home with your wedding dress smelling like smoke?).

I love the idea , might have to borrow it ! If you have a few smokers , I'm sure it would be a hit !

I saw this at a wedding and people loved it. It was set up on one of the balconies after cocktail hour once the dancing started. FH thought it was the coolest thing, took a couple of puffs and felt sick haha, he doesn't smoke on any sort of regular basis.

As long as it's outside/in an area that people who don't want it can avoid. The smell can be overwhelming.

My friend had a whiskey and cigar bar they put together- it was great.- it was about 50 feet from the actual food tented area- I don't think it bothered anyone.

    It was fun.

Make sure you are aware of your venue's regulations for smoking, and keep in mind that some guests may have smoke-triggered asthma. Otherwise, it's a know your crowd thing.

My venue suggested it to us as a way to tie in my Dominican culture. We already have so much of the Italian influence in our wedding. We are not splurging on a cigar roller. I'm just making a nice display and the men can smoke outside.

I think it's super cool, but realize it will draw a lot of people away from the dance floor. That's why ultimately we decided not to do one!

As others have said, make sure this is outside and far enough away from guests who don't want to partake. I have pretty bad asthma and even just smelling smoke on someone can make me start coughing.

O BTW...it was recommended that we display after dessert to settle the stomach.

They had this at a wedding recently. It was a huge hit, and was outside in the patio by the photobooth.

I hate cigars. They smell gross and cause cancer.

We are doing a cigar bar without a roller. It will be fun for the guys while sipping on whisky.

While it's a cool idea, I would honestly hate to be at a wedding with this. The smell stays on your clothes even after you come inside.

We had one at my wedding, and i hate to even tell you how long ago that was, so the 'cool new thing' concept is over.

Most venues will not allow smoking on site, so it becomes a favor.

    I also think they're gross.

My FH would LOVE something like this. But cigar smoke gives me really bad headaches, so it would not be an option for us.

I've heard of this. At a friends wedding people just busted out cigars. I personally don't love the smell. A select few people would have used it at our wedding. But also the venue doesn't allow smoking so it was a moot point.
