Those having kid friendly weddings/ General RSVP help

antsy, on February 1, 2012 at 3:49 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9

I'm getting my RSVPs ready and we were planning on putting ___ of seats are reserved in your honor. But whats the etiquette here? Does this number include the number of children? Do we have a seperate line for children like this:

____adult seats reserved

____children seats reserved

For some reason I don't really like how that looks. If I just go the other direction and let them put how many are coming how do I let those singles know that they get a plus 1? We have no inner envelope. I didn't think this would be that hard. Please help!

Edit: Since we have no inner envelope is it a major faux pas to have the outer envelope say Mr. John Doe and Guest?

I wrote the kiddos names on the inner envelope. When I mailed the invites to the families who had children I'd write on the outter envelope The ____________ Family. This way they knew the kids were invited. But, like I said, I also wrote their names on the inner envelope so they knew they were also invited.

    Example:

    (outter envelope)

    The Smith Family

    123 Main Street

    Denver, CO 80202

    (inner envelope)

    Bob, Nancy, Chase and Mia

I'd make sure I wrote Father's Name, Mother's Name, Oldest to youngest child's name.

    Hope this helps.

    These were our RSVPs

We have a big enough venue that reserved seating wasn't an issue, but this might help give you an idea(:

Here's how I formatted my RSVP card if it helps:

"M______________________________ (write in names of each person invited)

__ 2 seats are reserved in your honor

__ of __ accepts with pleasure

__ of __ declines with regret

Dinner will be served family style. If you have an allergy or special diet, please indicate here the type and number of special meals your party requires so we can order it for you:

    I did:

    ____ number of adults

    ____ number of children

It wasn't really a problem for us because we are having only 3 other than our 2 flower girls.

If you are allowing children, then the "___ of seats are reserved in your honor" should include the children, if you use it at all. (The major reason people normally use that line is to make it clear that children and plus 1s are not allowed.)

To indicate who is invited, you put that on the envelope. If you had inner envelopes, you could use Cydney J (Cydney M)'s suggestion, but if you do not, the information needs to appear on the outer envelope. For example, "Mr. and Mrs. John Smith and family," or "Jane Jones and guest." (Actually, strict etiquette would suggest you should find out in advance who Jane's guest will be, and address it to the two of them, but I suspect that's more trouble than it's worth, if you are allowing casual dates/friends.)

On ours it asks for the names... bc we are doing escort cards maybe you could leave a line for their names.

these aren't mine but it's what our were based off of.
