Things you wish you would have done during planning or wedding day?

AnnaKay, on February 3, 2017 at 9:33 PM Posted in Planning 0 19

So the FH and I have currently been discussing ideas for our wedding and always just get undecided. One of the popular things I have been told by newly married friends is they wish they would have gotten a videographer along with photographer. So I figure I would see what opinions anyone would to love share that have already made it past the planning process and to the big day.

I wish we would have stuck to our original plan of eloping. I also wish we would have not asked our bridal party as early as we did. Relationships have changed and we are stuck with people we honestly don't care to see much anymore. Those are the two biggest regrets.

Haven't made it to my big day yet, but in my opinion from other that are married don't send out save the dates, it's a waste and everyone that thinks there coming wants a save the date no matter what! (Annoying) and one I might regret is a videographer, but we don't have the money to get one at the moment

@Sarah @Bee @FutureMrsS thank you all for sharing. I don't know what it is about wedding that everyone thinks they are invited.

Our schedule on our wedding day went down the drain, primarily because my bridesmaids, my parents AND my aunt and uncle were all in our hotel room getting ready. I really wish we had gotten my parents and relatives their own room where they can get ready. I was extremely frustrated because I was supposed to get my makeup done first but my mother kept insisting on getting hers done before me. I also wish I had put my hair down rather than having it up.

We didn't have a filmographer but it's something that I really wish we had the budget for.

So far, my biggest regret is that I don't have the budget for a videographer and I really wanted one. I'm barely scraping by with my dream photographer, the DJ and florist though. Still, miracles happen so crossing my fingers some extra money comes in that might make it work, I have until 9/27/17.

Haven't gotten married yet, but I would've turned down money from my family tbh. Just a word of caution to others.

Another not married yet but I really wish I had spoken up and told my SIL that I wasn't planning on having bridesmaids or MOHs when she blatantly volunteered herself into the position but I kept my mouth shut to keep the peace. It's not that she's not 'doing anything' because I haven't asked and I don't expect her to do anything but show up in a dress. However, we're not close anymore. She's changed a lot since marrying my brother. However, I did ask FSIL to be a bridesmaid to develop our already developing friendship even more.

I really wish, though, I'd read about the 'not choosing bridal party too early.' Probably would have changed the way I handled the situation with SIL when it presented itself.

I wouldn't have sent out STD. I would have trimmed down my guest list a little more but it's too late now

Wish we would have cut the guest list. We included so many people out of obligation or trying to avoid conflict and now as rsvps are coming in I find myself hoping for declines, which makes me feel like a shitty person.

I low key wish we had eloped. Financial stress, guest list anxiety, family drama, and planning isn't that fun when one is working and going to grad school full-time. Even so, I'm really looking forward to our day.

I wish I had money in our budget for a videographer. I've priced them just for the ceremony and it's just too much, and we're not doing favors or STD's.

Thank you Guys. Sometimes I just don't feel like doing all this planning and would love to elope but FH is not a fan of the eloping idea. @ Morris&Sherry yes videographer are so much . @Krystal G hang in there and yes it's almost like you have three job and your big day will be here before you know it. @ HickChick418 and ENG the guestlist is my non favorite part right not but FH and I have our list but everyday it's like wait we forgot one or no we have to add them back and I'm like ugh we when we get closer will have to stick to our number.

@Bobbi ohhh my it's kind of like things are awkward between you and your SIL . I hope you guys relationship will get better @Iyla I would told family no thank you because I just want it to be about what FH and I want. @PH03N1X keep your fingers crossed for that extra money if not your day will still be beautiful. @christina I can only imagine your frustration. I probably would have broke down crying . I already take forever to get dressed.

    Not married yet - 5.21.2017.

So far nothing much. There are stresses about what to do, how to get certain things done, our timeline and guests comfort etc but nothing we regret yet.

Is it weird to say I wish I'd gone to more weddings before planning my own?

I've only been to two weddings in my life and I was only about 10 for both of them. I feel like it would be easier to know what I really like and don't like having experienced more.

But it's not like I have a choice in changing that, lol.

Not married yet. I wish I hadn't sent STDs.

I wish I had just bought a dress and not had to have a wedding dress from Davids and not spent so much money to alter it. I have seen plenty on Amazon that are gorgeous and less than $100.

Wish I hadn't spent $60 on personalized napkins.

I'm sure there are plenty of other things I'll say I regret after the wedding.

Wish I would have gotten married with just immediate family.

@windowschick thanks for sharing. @VIc thanks for sharing. @Anne B I have heard that about personal napkins and I understand you on the wedding dress not trying to do too much myself. @ DeNigris2Be2017 no it's not because. I catch myself when I go to others weddings taking notes as to what I like and don't like.
