Thigh garter?

With the garters that go on your thigh, does one size fit most people comfortably?

They are made with elastic, so one size should fit MOST. Although I know my thighs are not so toned so I am going to try to get a dirt cheap ugly one on the discount rack to see how it fits before I buy the one I want! I would hate to spend the money on a nice one just to feel like an ogre when I get it and it doesnt fit.

They do make some garters that are adjustable, I found one like that. It has 3 different lengths you can make it, kind of like a small, medium or large kind of thing. Look around to see if you can find the adjustable ones.

Having years of experience with daily garter wear, I can say that unless you're 20 pounds or 2,000 pounds...one size generally fits all. lol.

And while we're on the topic of garters...my wedding is so serious and elegant...I've considered giving FH a laugh...I picked out a Batman garter. lol. I mean, he's gonna be tossing it at a bunch of frat boys. Figured they might enjoy the laughs. Anyone else considered something like this?

I agree, from the ones I have and or seen, they generally fits all!

@ Carmen, I am doing the same thing! I am a HUGE FSU fan, and told my FH he "have" to like them as well. So as of now I am trying to work on converting him over. However, it is going to be so funny to have him go up under my gown doing his thing and come from under there with a FSU garter in his mouth, and once he come up I plan on having the FSU war chant play! It is going to be so funny! I am cracking up over here just thinking about it!!!!

I already have it! Sister-in-law seen one and know how much I love them and brought them for me!

They do make plus size garters. I ended up having my MIL make mine because I couldn't find one I liked that would fit. But for the toss garter I got a regular garter and put it on just before the festivity of the garter toss.

To the bride who bought one and it doesn't fit, that's an easy fix. All you need to do is buy a piece of elastic, snip the garter in the back and attach enough elastic to make it fit comfortably.

Also if anybody wants a simple DIY garter they do sell what's called elasticized lace. You can do one for only a couple of dollars since you won't need a full yard. I've seen plain white, white/blue, white/pink.

This is a great question. Never really thought about that! Thanks for all the input. Also my FH LOVES the Yankees so i am planning on having a garter with the Yankees symbol on it. He will love it!

Hello! i'm a stylish wedding garter designer, so i'm excited to see all the chatter!!

to answer the original question: most garters are one size fits all, unless it says. adjustable ones are great in theory, but they don't usually stay up under the dress. regardless of where you get your garter, make sure you try it on before your big day. maybe wear it around to get used to it.

as for the thigh size concerns: i recommend wearing the garter just above the knee. this is the skinniest part of your leg. it is low enough to get off if you are tossing it, and it isn't so high that it will rub or be too tight.

for more questions about the garter, i have a "garter 101" series on my blog that might be helpful: http://juliannesmith.wordpress.com/tag/garter-101/

as for making your own garter, i have a few free garter patterns here: http://juliannesmith.wordpress.com/tag/free-patterns/

embrace the garter tradition with style! happy wedding, ladies!

When I bought mine (online) it said that it would stretch comfortably to 24 inches around - so I measured my thigh. Maybe ask if they can give you this information.
