At the beginning of September I brought my engagement ring to a national chain to have a custom wedding band made due to the unique shape of my ring. Yesterday I called for an update on the status of everything since they had the ring much longer than the 2 weeks they said they would need it for. The store calls me back 45 minutes later and tells me they have LOST my engagement ring and never even started the band!! I have 59 days until my wedding and they lost my ring!! I am beyond upset and stressed. They are telling me that it will be at least 40 days to recreate my ring and make the band. I don't even know what to do. Can I even trust them now?

I hope I don't run into issues the Kays with my rings. That's where my FH purchased my e-ring.

Thank you all for your advice and sympathies. Kay is being very difficult and is making this process so much more stressfull. I have to jump through hoops to get any sort of half answers. After requesting the DM call me through two store locations, leaving her a voicemail, and emailing her she has yet to respond. They are making me feel like I am the one who lost/stole the ring. I just want the value they insured my ring for so I can go somewhere else and move on. I will never have my engagement ring back. After this ordeal every time I look at the replacement or even wedding band I will not remember my fiancees proposal but the pain and stress caused by Kay Jeweler losing my ring.

OMG that is horrible. Even if they give you the money for the replacement and the wedding band for free it still doesn't make up for the stress and aggravation they caused you! Plus, nothing can replace the ring that your fiance proposed with! I know I would be beyond livid if this happened to me. My fiance spent a long time finding the perfect ring and it's not something that can be easily replaced.

Maybe you could take a pic to a custom jeweler and see if they will make a replica Smiley smile or drop a hint to your FH that its not as sentimental without a proposal Smiley smile

FH found a replica of my original ring!!!!! I could have it as soon as Monday!!!! Unfortunately I would still need to find someone to make a custom wedding band in time. Hopefully I can get this Kay to just give us the money for my lost ring so I can get this one. Still no word from the DM.

I would also be raising holy hell. The fact that they aren't humiliatingly apologetic and absolutely mortified that this happened on their watch is enough to turn me away from Kay jewelers forever.

I would get every person you know calling and contacting the DM, make it a total menace and just FORCE him to deal with you.

I have submitted a formal complaint to the BBB. I hope this helps.

I came across this thread because I am currently going through something with Kay Jewelers! My engagement went in for the 3rd time to be repaired (twice before my fiance ever gave it to me, and now when I have had it 6 months). I got a call at 6:30pm the night before it was due back. I was told the 2nd store to "repair" it did something, and the store that has had my ring for the past 2 weeks won't touch it. They are sending the ring back to the store, then back to that 2nd store to see if they can repair it! The associate's haven't been apologetic or anything! I am waiting for a call.
