Themed wedding

Lisette, on January 28, 2020 at 11:24 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 13
Anyone having a sci-fi or space themed wedding? Me and my partner are trying to do a sci-fi B-movie themed wedding complete with a UFO, giant ant, and robot lol. Think Barbarella, Forbidden Planet, and Mystery Science theatre. I’m looking to do a metallic champagne and silver color scheme to up the atom punk and want to have a photo booth with rayguns and space helmets. Any ideas for venues and vendors that could accommodate these plans? I was hoping to have it indoors but now am wondering if a tent would be a better option. My problem is that I’m really stuck on these large props instead of little accents. And I have no ideas for the cake xc.

I feel like a rewatch of Space Balls and behind the scenes stuff for some of Disneys space themed rides would be a fun idea for inspiration. My vote is for indoors with maybe the lights very dim and add twinkly lights and uplights since its a wedding.

Oh god yes! I love Spaceballs so much! I could dress up my Fiancé as Lonestar 🤣🥰. Such a great idea. Thank you so much!

I am! Doing a Star Wars-themed wedding, but trying to keep the theme-ing more subtle. I don't want it to look like a child's birthday party, so everything has a hipster and feminine vibe--except for our photo booth. I'm buying a ton of Star Wars face masks/helmets, robes, plus lightsabers (you can get a dozen knockoff but nice ones for $50 on amazon).

That’s awesome! I want mine to be almost as if someone stepped into the wedding from Mom and Dad Save the World. I may even have a jumper because I want a kids section of the reception as my family has tons of them and I know not all of them aren’t going to be able to get baby sitters if they’re mostly watched by the family’s members I’mThemed wedding 1

No problem 👌🏻💖 atm I just have like little sketches and stuff I’ve done but things that are going to be part of the decor are: stars, carnivorous plants, succulents, a non traditional 3D star shaped arch, hanging globe tealights, and two drones dressed up as UFOs flying around broadcasting the ceremony to friends and family in Hawaii and Poland 🥰. We also want to put the officiant inside of a larger UFO 🤣👌🏻.

I’m having a great Gatsby theme. I’m really hoping my guests participate in wearing the appropriate dress for that era!

That’s sounds wonderful! I’m probably going to have a black dress code. But I’m going to include in the invite that if people would like to dress up as their favorite sci-fi characters then they are more than welcome. I already have a pair of friends that have promised me “Coneheads”
and I’m so incredibly thrilled for it lol.

I'm doing a Space Age theme with hints of geeky stuff in there.

My dress pattern is from the 1960s and my FH said it reminded him of Queen Amidala... and thus the nerdy stuff began. LOL.

The Pinterest board got totally wacky, now I'm reeling it in to something that's more affordable and looks more timeless...

Oh I love it 🥰. My dress is going to be a replica of Hedy Lamarrs Ziegfried girl 😊✨👌🏻. The pattern isn’t that difficult it’s just I have to make this harness that goes to this back piece she has. Themed wedding 2

I’m debating on the arm shooting star things because I don’t know how that will work out with my father and me walking down the aisle and me holding a bouquet. But I love them so much xc.

My fiance and I met play call of duty. And we will be during the theme reception as well. I wish I could give you some advice at the moment but I am still trying to figure out how to make it come together and look like a wedding that tells a story. And be able to use the space as I want but not hang anything on there walls. I will keep you in mind as my brain wonders.... but I think you should everything you want this is your memory. What I will suggest is maybe pick industrial that had light control. That's what I am looking for those buildings are normally pretty big.

I think that’s super cool. My fiancé and I bonded over knightly movies early on. He even proposed dressed as a Templar knight. So for our wedding we’re not going with a vibrant in your face theme, but are still aiming for A Knight’s Tale -esque celebration. So dresses are long and flowy. I’m creating a prayer flag/fabric strip curtain as the backdrop for the ceremony. I’m having a graphic designer friend create for us a unique Coat of Arms shield for the reception (and also mantle centerpiece in our living room afterwards).
