The Venue

Traci, on July 15, 2023 at 12:26 PM Posted in Planning 1 11
How did you all find your venue. Did you all go thru wedding wire? How many venue's did you go see?
Do you think the venue is the most important thing??

I used both Wedding Wire and The Knot when looming for venues and vendors. I used both since both every venue or vendor advertises on both so it gave me a larger selection to pick from. We lived close to four hours from where we got married so we visited a total of seven venues in two days. We went to three on Saturday and four on Sunday. I knew before even going to look at them which one I wanted to get married at. It was even more beautiful in person. It definitely is extremely important because until you have a venue secured you don't really have a wedding date picked out because in order to book vendors they will need to know the time and location of the wedding.

We did not go through WeddingWire for our venue. I just googled venues in the area and also looked through tons of them on Instagram (it’s a great way to see how the venue photographs IRL, not just the curated photos the venue chooses to put out). I think the venue is incredibly important! As the previous poster mentioned, you don’t even have a wedding date until you have a venue secured (ie, you have ensured the venue has that date open and you have signed a contract and put down a deposit for your date to be held). The venue also really sets the tone for everything else moving forward. You really can’t even plan or purchase anything until you have secured your venue, because you need to ensure it all fits the formality, color scheme, and general “vibe” of the venue. After setting a budget and creating your guest list, the venue should be the very next step in the planning process.

I used Wedding Wire --- twice. since the first place had a coordinator run off with people's money. @@ The venue sets the tone, and it really is the most important thing, whether it's a backyard, beach house or castle. It's super important to find a venue that can provide you with what YOU want - some brides just want a 'shell' that they can customize themselves, others prefer all inclusive so they have less to worry about.

When integrated with a catering staff, IMO venue is the most important choice by far. Otherwise a venue is just a venue. Views, scenery and renovations come a distant second to experience, talent, and reputation of everyone from servers to chefs to catering manager.

I definitely think venue is top priority for a wedding. It was one of the first things I wanted to get done after choosing my date. I didn’t go through any apps for mine. I just went on google and wrote down the venue name, number and time I was supposed to go visit. Think I went to at least 5 or 6 venues before finding mine.

Honestly speaking I am settling on my venue. Its not even a venue its a restaurant that does both the ceremony and reception. I needed the place to be kosher due to the fact that my finances family keeps kosher and his father wanted us to use this place so I agreed. I thought the venue was the most important thing but I don’t know anymore I just want to enjoy my night with the one I love and who celebrities our love. Also we only looked at one other place and my fiancé turned it down immediately because he didn’t like that we couldn’t use our own kosher place and the fact that they didn’t really provide anything and we would have end up spending more money on things. I don’t really think the venue really matters. As long as my wedding vision is still being put together in terms of decorations and the vibe that I’m going for and that the food’s good and the company is good and just having a good time . Thats what I really care about. I thought I cared about like how the venue looks like, like I wanted a fall type wedding with like a fall background and outdoor ceremony but in reality things don’t always go to plan so I had to push my wedding to April so obviously it’s not gonna have fall. I’m still keeping my theme colors like burgundy, but I’m adding like pink and blush pink. I hope this helps. Lol

Your colors will be great together. We looked at about 5 venues. The one we will most likely go with, came up on wedding wire, but we went to that event center yrs ago for something else. It was not a wedding. I think the venue is important but i really dont want to look at anymore .lol

I also used google. And wedding wire.
We looked at a total of 5 venues. We liked 2 outta the 5. We have 1 picked out. We are going for a 2nd look next week. We plan on booking no later then next year. I think its a hard one for me between the venue and photos.

We found venues through a Google search, and narrowed down which ones to look at in person based on budget, reviews, and overall vibe of the venue. We looked at a total of 4 - originally, we planned to look at three, but while we were touring one of the venues, the owner mentioned that he recently opened a second wedding venue nearby, so we went to look at that one too. The third venue we saw in person ended up being the one we decided to book.
