If any of you feel comfortable sharing, where is all your funding coming from? Parents? Gradparents? In laws? Loans? Credit card? Direct savings? My FH and I are paying for everything by ourselves. None if our family offered to help us with planning, organizing or financially. I didn't expect it, nor would I accept any of their money; but it would have been tiuching if they had offered.cfb_2x_1425203.jpg

Okay. Thanks for sharing. Yes, according to statistics, the grooms family offers very little or nothing at all.

Nice of your parents to contribute. My FH and I will be paying for everything on our own.

Haha yes definitely a different culture. I know that a lot of American users have BLASTED me for having a wishing well saying it’s ‘against etiquette’ but here they’re very common, as is parents contributing to the wedding in the Russian culture.

My dad just retired from over 30 years in the military. If we would have gotten married before he retired we would have done something much more intimate from the start. Because he was in the military he didn’t save a college friend for us (GI bill would pay for his kids college) instead he set money aside for weddings, if we ended up wanting to further our education past a bachelors degree, he would’ve given us the money that he saved for weddings to go towards whatever our G.I. Bill would not cover

Nice! My dad was dumb and retired from the military one year before the GI bill was able to be used for personnel's children.

Yes - sometimes I see people's budgets that seem crazy low and I'm like dang, did we do something insane? Location has so much to do with it. Based on my friends in the NJ/NY area, $30k seems middle of the road for an average wedding there - and my Indian friends' budgets? Holy crap 😂

Annika, you have a lovely name. Okay, that's very generous of your parents to help. Best wishes to you.
