The “one”, wedding dress

Trinity, on October 19, 2019 at 9:09 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9
Hello all,
Standing at 5 foot tall, I am having a really hard time finding the dress. My wedding isn’t until October 2020, so I might be shopping too early. I found a dress I really like, even went back to try on with my BMs there as well. However, I didn’t cry or have any feeling like other bride described. In fact, I want to try on more, but I already went to 5 shops. Is this normal? Should I wait until January to shop? Will they have more style in?
Thank you!

I went to at least 5 places too. And I looked at dresses online NON-STOP. I had all but given up on finding “the one”. So glad I didn’t, because when I least expected it, I found it!! I didn’t have the super emotional response a lot of girls have though- no tears, etc. But I am really just not that type of person either. But when I put on that dress I knew it was the one I wanted to get married in. It just felt “right”. I couldn’t stop smiling, I didn’t want to take it off, and I didn’t want to try on any other dresses.
Don’t give up! You’ll find it!!

    1) You’re at the perfect time to start shopping. 2) It took me 8-10 stores to find The One—worth all the effort. 3) I didn’t cry either. It wasn’t exactly what I envisioned but I really liked it. Once it arrived in my size and I tried on with a veil, I teared up a bit. You’ll find yours!

I bought my dress in August, so I definitely don't think you're starting too early. (I went a tad early because I wanted to shop with my sister, who was going back to college in the fall.)

For me, I happened to find a sample sale that I fell in love with. I didn't cry, I just felt really happy and didn't want to take it off. It was actually the first dress I tried on at the only shop I went to, but I tried on a few more just because I had a 90-minute appointment and didn't want to waste it, lol!

They did tell me that new dresses can take 4-8 months to come in, and they like to do any alterations 3-4 months out.

I don't think there's always going to be an emotional response either or that some dresses will instantly strike you as the one.

I didn’t cry when I found my dress. I only went shopping one day and went to two stores. I also believe there was no perfect dress for me and picked my favorite of the day.

Now time has passed I keep looking at pictures of me in the dress and I can’t wait to wear it. Good luck and I don’t think it’s too early.

I personally would wait. You have PLENTY of time to get a dress, and you may see styles come out that you like better. By giving yourself too much time, you might be rushing to find the dress and setting yourself up for "what if" moments. Take your time, take a break from the dress shopping then go work on something else. Come back to it in Jan when you have had some time to think.

In regards to the feeling, I didn't have one. I cried a little because I was tired haha. I never once had a "this is my dress". I knew what I wanted. I knew I liked it and knew I wanted to wear it. I have worn lots of gowns and not once did I have that feeling. Don't feel bad if you don't get it. I am analytical and it just isn't my nature.
