The Journey Begins: Making My Dress!

Tonight I begin a long Journey, the ultimate DYI: My dress! I’m excited and a little anxious (as I often am before a big sewing project) but I’ve procrastinated enough! Well, here goes!

Zoe your post is so exciting! You're quite good at your craft. Love the updates...keep us posted.

It's so awesome!! I'd wish you luck, but you don't need it. Hope you continue to progress without any glitches.

Oh my goodness this is such an inspiring post!! I grew up sewing with my grandma and mom, who were/are amazing and very talented seamstresses. I even made my own banquet dress in high school (fully lined, no pockets though). You're doing an amazing job and I can't wait to see the finished result!

The bodice is looking just like your Christine inspiration pic! So beautiful. And the scalloped lace you have selected for the edge is exquisite! Can't wait to see how everything comes together Smiley smile

Buttons are done and trims are in place! There is just some fine tuning to do. The sleeves are assembled and ready to go in tomorrow.

Aside from some cleaning up and some minor details, the dress is done! It looks a little disproportioned because my dress from isn’t quite tall enough or long enough in the torso.

I don't think it looks disporpotioned i think it looks great! n so long as it fits you perfectly any disporportions you might see dont matter that will look great on your wedding day though!

I guess I see the disproportions because I know exactly how it all should fit. The dress form doesn't quite go to my height and the torso is shorter than mine, so it's not all laying the way it does when I'm wearing it. For example, in the picture here, the bodice expands beyond the hips, instead of resting on top. But it makes me feel good to hear that it looks fine anyway!

I had my final fitting and practice run of getting me dressed with the bridesmaids. We played around and took some photos.
