The dumbest rules you have at your venue

Sweetbella, on June 10, 2010 at 1:23 PM Posted in Planning 0 79

Hey all! After reading Fins' post, it made me laughed because her venue has same rules as mine. We are getting married on Naval Base. Some dumbest rules are to have nothing hanging on the wall, have to pay for cake fee and can have flower petals at ceremony as long as it is not RED. Can't bring any alcohol or foods to the reception. Please tell me yours!

Why done by 10 PM? Is it because it can disturb the neighors nearby?

Nothing on the walls. But, this doesn't bother me. I didn't have a whole lot of rules actually.

@Megan...that's exactly it! So the after party will be at our house(which we will be moving into next month)

@MBM...I don't understand that at any hall! Isn't that apart of what you're paying for; the clean-up?!

I noticed that most weddings now today don't allow throw in things like rice for the couple, they seem more strict about it now.

Well heavnst I love white lights and I wanted to put it in the ballroom but no hangings allows :-(

We can't have confetti or rice thrown at us. I'm hoping to get by that with the water soluble confetti. :-) Keep your fingers crossed.

"can have flower petals at ceremony as long as it is not RED"

I wonder if they've had issues with the red staining things. It seems like any dyed flower could present a problem.

Cake cutting is free as long as its right after dinner, if not its $75.00

Anything we print with the hotels name or logo must be approved first.

So my Invites, programs, or anything else with theit name has to ba approved before we send them.

We also cant hang anything or throw anything.

We weren't allowed to use confetti cause its hard to clean up. We weren't supposed to tape anything to the walls but that was cause someone used masking tape and peeled the paint. We used regular tape and it was fine.

Venues have some crazy rules... what's up with the "no red petals"???? I looked at one place and I had to use their centerpieces... and they only had two to chose from... one of which were really tall candelabras that were just plain 3 pronged things... haha... I think venues don't like the confetti and rice cuz it's a pain to clean up... even if the birds come to eat the birdseed they might not want to attract birds... hummm... sorry i like to rationalize things... haha... I've also heard that if the birds eat the rice they will die... or is that just an urban myth???

I have a feeling after the ecofetti becomes popular this rule for the no confetti might go away. I emailed my venue. I'm hoping to hear something by next week.

No RED wine? Strange! Are they worried about stains? We're not allowed to bring any additional tables/chairs in - I figure it's an occupancy issue. We're probably going to break the rule a teensy bit so that we can have a small round table to use as our sweetheart table, rather than having a head table.
