The dress your mom would have picked

My mom and I are very different when it comes to fashion, but she knows me very well and we both 100% agreed when we saw my dress. She looked at me and said, "you love this dress don't you?" She said I came out beaming and she knew it was what I wanted so she was totally on board. It is 100% not what she would have picked for me though.

Yes, actually.

The dress I bought was the one both my mother and I loved the most.

We have similar tastes, but I'm more adventurous and think "outside of the bubble." My mother's wedding dress looks extremely different than mine, but you have to think, that was 42 years ago and my mother couldn't afford a big, fancy dress - she just bought what she could afford (and confessed me to me always hated it).

When we went shopping it was more for the experience and less for the dress (I kinda had secretly already bought one... that's another story!) The consultant said pick 7 to start with, so i told my mom and sister we could all pick 2 each and then one for any we all like.

As we started trying them on, i instantly knew which ones were my moms picks (my sisters were a little harder to point out, and even she didn't remember which she picked!) While i wanted A-line or ballgown and don't like lace, i let my mom pick some mermaids and more fitted styles and tried on her romantic lace-y gowns.

In my case, mother did know best! My dress was the one that she picked out, and it's my perfect ideal dress!

I wish I did this, BUT my mom has this very disapproving look, and I didn't want to see it going down the aisle. She didn't love my dress, but she didn't hate it either, so I am okay with that..... My friends were the real problem they wanted me to get a ball gown (because "it was so not like me" -- Umm yeah I will still be me on the wedding day, but the way they fussed over the ballgown made me feel like i made the wrong choice).... I wish I went alone... I would have never had these doubts!

My mom had me try on the fugliest looking dress ever, lol. I eventually got an A-line she claimed she had her eye on since the beginning of the shopping experience.

She would have chosen this one because it was $99. Which is why I didn't bring her

My mom was the only one I brought shopping and yes we agreed on the one!
