The dress and David's Bridal/ Wedding dress dip dye.

Bobbie, on October 25, 2016 at 11:05 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 17

Went dress scoping yesterday. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that David's Bridal was cheap comparatively.

Has anyone used them and what was your experience with them? Not to sound like a cheap hag but will they price match their online store? Or should I go in for a fitting then order online?

And has anyone dip dyed their dress? (picture to show what I mean) How did you go about doing it if you did it yourself?

I work for David's. Price marching online is not policy, but some management teams (like us) have decided to honor online promotions to boost sales during the off season.

Your experience really depends on the store and the stylist. Our store reviews are better now that the store did some employee changes.

That's good information to have. There were a few styles in store that I couldn't find on the site so I want to go do a fitting for those styles too. ( I found like 10 that I like. trying to narrow them down)

The one that I really like is around $750, which I admit is not bad, but online it's $350.

I'll just have to talk to the store and find out if they will or not.

That dress was airbrushed by the artist. Personally I've seen dip dyes and they're okay, but not stunning.

I went in and tried on the dress, they wouldn't price match their online price for me so I ordered it online. Loved my dress. I bought a colored dress, so I can't really help with the second question.

I've seen this dress before! Stunning!! Could you maybe find someone to paint your dress?? Do you have any amazing artist friends?

I liked my experience with David’s. I think they are good.

And I would suggest not DIY-ing your dress if you want to dip dye it. The picture you posted was from Buzzfeed and she is a professional artist who had experience with the medium she was using. I would see if you could pay someone to do it for you because if you mess up, then you just ruined your dress.

Most of the dresses from Davids are probably going to be a poly blend and cannot be dyed.

Also- be careful because just because the fabric maybe able to be dyed doesn't mean polyester thread will- so you'll have colored fabric and white thread.

As Katie said- pay someone to do it.

I have experience with an airbrush! I never thought of that! Now the wheels on my head are working.

I was already thinking about a design I wanted to paint on the dress so painting the bottom would be fun.

Just an FYI: Davids online sample sale dresses are all damaged. They do not tell you whats wrong with it or if it can be fixed. Just letting you know if the dress is on a sample sale, and thus why it's so cheap, its because there is something wrong with it. At least that's what the little fine print and my consultant told me.

I didn't know that! Thank you for that info. Especially since the ones online said sample on a few.

Ahh I see the fine print now.

•Sample Sale gowns are only available online (not available in stores).

•Sample Sale gowns contain imperfections such as tears in the lining or tulle, or imperfect seams in the skirt, etc.

•Specific imperfections are not visible in the photograph shown which is representative of the style and design, not the individual dress that will be shipped.

•Sample Sale product cannot be returned in our stores, however it can be returned within 14 days of receipt following our standard online return policies.

•David's Bridal stores can provide alterations on online Sample Sale gowns (for a fee), however we will not restore them back to first quality.

What colors would you want to airbrush or drop due your dress? I find that extremely interesting. Would you be willing to try dying it yourself or getting it done?

I'm probably no good at airbrush and dye usually won't hold on these fabric. Something dramatic like the photo but not so deep of colors. Sunset
