The Crown / Reign Wedding Tiara Inspiration

edecker, on February 6, 2018 at 9:17 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 27

There's two new Netflix shows out right now, The Crown about queen Elizabeth of England, and Reign about "bloody Mary" aka Mary queen of Scotland. I LOVE watching Reign as there are many queens, princesses, and SO MANY TIARAS!

Will you be wearing a Tiara on your wedding day? Anyone else love these shows? You can see my favorite of Mary's tiaras below. Anyone know where to find high quality tiaras for cheap-ish? Etsy has $100-200 crowns, but I am looking for a little under $100. Show me your tiara inspo!

Heck yes I am wearing a tiara/crown. But while I love the drama and the sparkle, I'm on the hunt for a more low profile crown. Bigger than just a headband, enough to visibly hold up my veil, but not as big as most of the tiaras you posted.

I have time to keep searching and/or to commission one. I never thought about Amazon. I have only been browsing Etsy and eBay.

Bloody Mary is Mary I of England, Elizabeth I older sister who was her predecessor. She got the title by her torture annd hunting down of protestants in England during her reign.

Was just going to say this. Mary Queen of Scots is not Bloody Mary. If you're so interested in the show, you might want to look into the history.

I feel like tiaras can be pretty but they require a certain aesthetic to the event. For example, a very formal event with gorgeous decor and high end service. I wouldn't expect someone to wear a tiara at a wedding where a lot of things are DIYed and there aren't even real flowers...

I loved Reign but it's definitely not new, and it's not a netflix show. It was a CW show that was canceled last year after 4 seasons.

My sister is taking European history and told me she was Bloody Mary, OOPS! I will have to tell her (she probably already knew but I confused it)Thanks for clearing that up for me! I know that in the show she attempts to take the throne of England several times before the first Elizabeth does, so maybe that made me confused...

I am just getting to the part in season two with the protestants being prosecuted for their faith and all of that and the show takes place in France. I don't know the historical accuracy of the show either lol.

It's not historically accurate at all. It's a show from the CW...

The Queen Elizabeth on Reign is Elizabeth I. The Queen Elizabeth on The Crown is Elizabeth II.

The two shows are not from the same time period.

High quality and cheap don’t usually go in the same sentence so you probably won’t find anything that elaborate for under $100

Crowns/tiaras are probably the thing about weddings that make me most want to roll my eyes. I think even for the people going for a princessy feel for their wedding, tiaras are still ridiculous and taking it too far.

I know that price and quality go hand in hand, and I know that I may have to pay $100 for what I want, I was just wondering if anyone had suggestions on a great place to get them for a great price Smiley smile

Agree. Also, agree with pp about a crown/tiara needing to fit with the overall wedding theme/ambiance (e.g., very formal castle-type venue, black tie apparel -- and service, etc.) or it may come off more like a Sweet 16, Quinceanera, or costume party kind of a look.

Yes, I may pick a more understated and delicate tiara to both fit the theme, and not come off party-like.

Try JJ house! I've found a lot of affordable low profile crowns there that have good reviews.
