The cost of being a groomsman, is this too much?

Mika, on August 30, 2012 at 10:32 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

OK, so I've posted before the the only think FH really wants in our wedding is for him and his groomsmen to be in kilts. The rental cost would be about $190 and each groomsman would have to pay to ship the outfits back themselves... To me, that seems like a rather large burden to put on them, but we just don't have any room to spare in the wedding budget... If you were asked to do that, would you feel put upon?

Ehh.. I personally don't think that is too terrible.. FH has paid that much to be in a wedding by renting a tux..

It cost our GM 160$ just to rent their tuxs so that is not that much!

I'll be the odd woman out, our bridal party (boys and girls) are all paying less than $100 each, so I think that's quite a bit.

Depends on where you're located. My guys only had to pay $80 for their rentals.. Just ask them, if they have an issue talk it over with FH and decide what the best plan of action is.

    Location location location, T R...

$182 for groomsmen here in Cali.....so 190 for kilts isn't all that bad.

Is that just for the kilt, or is it for the entire outfit from head to toe, and how much would it cost them to ship it back? Our tuxes cost $190 to rent and I thought that price was a tad to high

That cost is for the whole outfit, shoes, shirts, accessories, and everything. And now that I'm moving stuff around, I think we can probably afford to take care of the shipping... FH has typically paid somewhere from 120 to 150 to rent a tux in our area...

It doesn't really matter what WE think is too much, it's really about what your guys have the ability to pay.

I would just tell your FH to run it past his guys individually and make sure that works for their budget, and if it's too much for someone, then decide what you guys want to do - if you're going to cover the remaining cost or choose something else that costs less.

    Hope it works out.

Like Kris said, it depends on if they think it's reasonable.

I love that they will be kilts!... I'm Irish and would love to have Irish touches FH is not... I'm pushing REALLY hard on a bag pipper though!.

and That isn't not expensive at all I think it's reasonable!
