thank you gifts to parents

jeannie, on September 24, 2014 at 9:21 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

Hi Ladies, I need some advice. We would like to get our parents a gift to say that you for all their support along the way and the money for our wedding.

Plates and engraved items are not anything they would like or care to have...any ideas? I feel I need to present them something at the rehearsal dinner.......

We were going to do albums once our photos come back but that'll be more of an x-mas gift...

We're thinking about getting my mom's diamond reset. She hasn't worn her engagement ring in years because the band and prongs are so worn but she also hasn't wanted to spend the money to get the new setting she likes.

My parents are both deceased, but I'm leaning towards doing a nice photo frame like this for my fiancé's parents.

I'm just getting them a frame and they can pick the professional photo of their choice to put in it.

We are getting them a frame and they can pick a photo for it.

It will be engraved with the Corinthians 13:4 "Love is kind..." quote.

Shop for them like it's their birthday or Christmas. I got my mom a nice necklace (which she wears daily) and I got my dad a wine decanter because he loves his wine,

We're talking about getting each set two rounds of golf and an over night stay at a really night golf course in the northern part of the state for them to use when they want. Both sets of parents are big golf sluts so this would be perfect for them

I struggled with this for a long time because my parents are also not the type who would want a personalized plate or anything like that.

I ended up getting my mom a bracelet and had the charm engraved with "My mother, my friend." And I got my dad a handkerchief (he always carried one when I was growing up) that says, "To remember the day you gave me away. Thanks for walking by my side. Love, Katy"

And then the fiance and I are going to get them a gift card to one of their favorite restaurants and a picture frame with a picture of the four of us from our engagement party.

Still not sure it's the greatest gift, but for the budget we have, it's the best I could come up with. They really deserve much, much more.

I don't think we're getting FH's parents anything. His dad isn't coming to the wedding and I keep asking him what he's going to get his mom and he doesn't seem to think he needs to get her anything.

I bought my parents a silver picture frame that holds 3 pictures. I put their wedding photo in one slot, my brothers wedding photo in another and left the third slot open for when our photos come back.

Jeannie I'm in the same boat! My parents do not want anything engraved and I am having such a hard time coming up with good ideas. I got my mom a really nice ring that she has been eyeing but other than that I can't come up with anything.

I also want to do the picture frame idea but would prefer to give the frame with a picture already in it (so a Christmas present would be perfect).

I'm trying to think of my parents hobbies and get them something to go along with that.

My mom is not a jewelry person, and she is not much for engraved items either. For that reason, I got her a handkerchief with a personal message stitched on it, and my FH got my mom a frame to hold the poster he had made that has a personal message from him.

His parents are assholes, so they aren't getting anything.
