Thank You Card for Gifts Sent Before the Wedding

Open them as you receive them and send a thank you note as soon as possible!

You'll want to open them right away to make sure it is the right item and that it is not damaged or broken. If you wait until the wedding it may be harder to prove that it was damaged in shipping. Sending a thank you note right away tells your guest that you received it that way they don't worry that a possibly expensive gift got lost in the mail.

We've been getting gifts and opening them as they are received and sending notes out immediately.

Agreed with everyone - open them when you get them to make sure everything's ok and to go ahead and get some use from the gift, and send a thank you card immediately. It's less you have to do later and as a gift-giver, it's nice to know the couple received what you sent.

Thank you for all of the advise! I agree and what I was leaning towards but I am glad I asked.

1. We opened them when we received them.

2. We sent thank you gifts as we got them, up until the month of the wedding. Then I just made a list and sent those out after the wedding with all the others.

I would open and send thank you's right away. IT's also helpful for the giver because then they know you actually received the gift!
