Teeth whitening

Temara, on May 23, 2012 at 10:54 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13

I want to get my smile brightened before the wedding. Groupon has a deal for an at home teeth whitening kit. Do those things really work, or should I go to a professional? How long do your teeth stay white?

I think it really all depends on your teeth and the quality of the whitening. I know when I go to the dentist they always tell me that if I did the whitening that I would not really see a difference becasue my teeth are pretty white already. But I also know people who the stripes in stores and they had to use them for months before seeing a difference like 6months waiting period. So i would ask a professional first then go from there. Hope this advice helps.

My dentist keeps recommending Crest white strips. I am very happy with the office that I go to and I trust what they tell me. They say that those are just as good as the professional whitening kits. Also, my cousin has used them and her teeth are so bright. She told me she saw a difference within seven days.

My dentist also recommended the drug store strips like Crest whitening strips. He said they are just as good as a professional I guess unless your teeth are stained from coffe or smoking or something. My girlfriend has used them several times but she said it started to make her teeth sensitive.

I've used Crest White strips in the past and I love them. I can't use them on my bottom teeth because they get too senstive, but you don't see my bottom teeth when I smile anyway haha but because I don't do the bottom, I can really tell how much whiter my top teeth are getting in comparison (a lot!). The effect is long lasting and I just find them much more convenient than other options.

I asked my dentist about the sensitivity as well and they told me to be super careful when timing the strips. A lot of people leave them on longer than the instructions say to which can result in sensitivity. Just a tip!

If my teeth are already sensitive, should I look for other options besides the strips?

I have very sensitive teeth. My dentist told me to use crest white strips. Do not leave them on any longer than the time on the box. Use them every other day. Brush with sensodyne. It worked for me!! The first time I tried the strips I couldn't even take in a deep breath my teether were so sensitive. Following the dentist instructions took a while, but it never made my teeth sensitive.

I don't know where you live but I got some that were the store brand (Kroger- grocery store) and they have worked really well! The best part was that they are half the price of Crest White Strips. Be aware that they do make your teeth sensitive, so we ended up buying teeth sensitive toothpaste. Hope this helps & good luck!

You can start using Crest 3D whitening toothpaste. I see a dramatic difference in both mine and FH teeth. I also do a hmade paste every two weeks, one cap ful of lemon juice and a table spoon of baking soda. Lemon is a natural lightener (you can use it on skin too) and the combination combined works wonders. You cant do it everyday bc of the acid.

I'm looking into teeth whitening also, I agree that people I've asked have all had good success with the white strips.
