Hello Ladies,

I just got engaged a couple months ago and will be getting married April 4, 2012 via the Royal Caribbean Allure of the seas on Lindquist Beach St Thomas USVI. Very excited!!! This has always been my dream to get married on a caribbean beach. One huge concern I have is, will my tattoo look ok with my dress or is this considered trashy? I love my tattoo!! I have angel wings on my back with my mother and grandmothers names in the middle. I don't want attempt to cover it but I would like the opinion and experiences of other brides. Is this ok?? Will it look horrible? HELP!!! Any other tattoed brides with pics to share would be great as well?

Thanks ,

Desiree

Body art is a beautiful thing.... even more so when it has so much meaning to you. If you own it, if you look & feel good in your dress then I say rock it like it's nobody's business. It is a part of you, I am just finishing a half sleeve myself and I think it's as gorgeous as any other feature I have.

Bottom line is how you feel in your dress with it. If it doesn't bother you it shouldn't bother any one else. Like one gal said she finds it tacky but then again she is not a fan of tattoo's. Every one has there own opinion so show of yours Smiley smile

My fiance gave me my first tattoo so I wasn't going to cover it up. Unfortunately its on my foot and the dress I decided on is floor length, so instead I'm going to make sure to get some pictures that shoe of my shoes and tattoo. I did the same for my boudoir pics a couple weeks ago. I asked the photographer to make sure she got at least a few good pics of my tattoo.

I'm hoping to get my wrist one don before the wedding and wont be covering that one either.

I don't think letting your tats show is trashy at all. They are who and what you are. Check out this WW recent bride... Sara was wed last month... she's got some beautiful ink work and I love the fact that she didn't cover up her work at all.... https://www.weddingwire.com/wedding-forums/married-pics/155fcc5e7969ce0f.html

I personally don't like tattoos, but if it is truly a part of who you are, the I think you should flaunt it. Maybe consider buying a cover shawl or one of those cute attachable lace sleeves/jacket to cover it up in a few photos (the one's you send to grandparents/coworkers) and then have some pictures of you showing it off. The best part of your wedding is that you set the standard of what is okay. If you think it looks good, then it does -period.

I have a tattoo on my shoulder, which is my personal artwork. So yes, I'm showing it off! My other ones won't be visible but most of my bridesmaids also have a couple tattoos. Go for it, it's who you are. Smiley smile

Even if I didn't have any, I wouldn't think they were "trashy". In my opinion, tattoos are a form of self-expression. I think people who consider body art of any kind trashy, are close-minded individuals that aren't aware of, or can’t accept the numerous forms of self-expression. But hey, we all have our opinions and that one is mine. As for me, I live my life with no regrets, and covering up a part of me to please others would be something that I know I would regret.

IMHO Brides are supposed to look pure and girly. I have 4 and I am covering them.

But thats just me, if you feel comfortable go for it, but from your OP you were in doubt so maybe you should think it through for yourself a little longer.

Either way you choose you will be a beautiful bride.

Your tattoo(s) are a part of your journey in life, there’s no reason for you to cover up or find a specific dress to hide it. Wear the dress you love and do what makes you feel comfortable. I have a tattoo on my shoulder and I am getting married in a strapless dress. Be authentically you on your day!
