Tampa/Orlando "off-peak" wedding months?

Teresa, on April 12, 2014 at 4:47 AM Posted in Planning 0 20

I've been trying to decide on a wedding date but I'm having trouble finding a straight answer about the Tampa/Orlando "off peak" wedding months. I can find some answers for south Florida but even those answers are varied, and some just conflict with each other.

My future husband and I will have very little help paying for our wedding and we don't have tens of thousands of dollars to drop on our big day, so budgeting is key for a wedding worth family photo albums lol. I have to find a time of year that is "off peak", not during the heavy tourist season, and I have to factor in the hurricane season as well.... Ugh!

What I mainly need to find out is the wedding peak / off peak months for the central Florida area. The time of year will also help me decide on a venue (on the beach, indoor, outdoor etc.)

At this point I'm almost willing to have my wedding during a hurricane lol that's one way to cut down on expenses and family drama (^_^)

We're getting married in Apopka (just north of orlando) in July and got a discount on the room rental because it wasn't the busy season. For weddings in Orlando it seems that summer is off peak even though everything else in the area is crazy during that time.

Some motels lower rates the beginning of May.

Hurricane season starts June 1 and runs until Nov. 30.

In Sarasota, rainy season starts mid-June and runs through Sept. That means an afternoon thunderstorm almost every day, but it clears out in time for a sunset wedding on the beach.

Heat & humidity are high in July, Aug., Sept.

Peak tourist season is Feb., March, April here in Sarasota.

Orlando area -- you're dealing with family vacations in the summer.

I'd aim for May, June, Oct., Nov., or Dec. (we got married in Oct.).

Thank you all for the very helpful comments. It's starting to look like October or November is best. We will have to wait until 2015 though, due to family issues, so that will give me plenty of time to plan and make most of the decor/center pieces myself lol (I'm so serious about saving money lol). I normally don't have a problem making decisions, on everything, but I guess once a ring was put on my finger I suddenly can't decide on anything lol

@ Shelby H.: less then $5000.00?!? I think you may be my new favorite super hero lol that is amazing! I have to ask, what venue are you using?

@Shelby: Thank you so much for the info! I'm definitely going to look into it!

@Natasha: I know how you feel. My future husband wants to have the ceremony and reception in one place that serves food and alcohol. But when I ask for a budget he won't give me one. He just says "just checked the prices and we'll go from there" lol I would love to have it at the Sage in Clearwater, but I don't know how much they would charge for what we want, and it's more then an hours drive away from my house, so I can't just stop by and talk to them without planing :-/

Lol I looked in to the FL aquarium too but I about lost my mind when I added everything up lol

But now I'm going to loss my mind anyway because my FH just told me that he wants our wedding sometime in the beginning of next year. That gives us less time to save money and less time for me to loss some baby weight lol I want to look FABULOUS! Lol

I had my hopes on November 14 2015 in the afternoon to have a launch reception. But now I have to look in to January? I'm trying to get my FH to agree to sometime in May 20015 to buy some time lol

That's what I was thinking lol it's amazing the money that can be saved just by having a brunch or lunch rather then dinner. Almost feels like robbery lol

Oh and I got my "Mr. Stubborn-Pants" aka husband-to-be to agree to May 16 instead of January. I hope that will give us enough time to save the money we need lol

    Hello Shelby,

How did you manage to have a wedding for less than 5000.00 ?? I will appreciate your help. We are planning for our wedding this year. However, the moment you say a word "wedding" everything is so expensive.

    Thank you

    Jai
