Table Appetizers - help!

blushingbride, on September 4, 2011 at 11:47 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10

Our reception will be begin pretty early, about 4, with dinner about 5 or 5:30. During the very beginning, the bridal party will be being photographed, and we think it would be nice for guests to have some simple appetizers to chomp on while they get seated.

Catered hors d'oeuvres are not in our budget, so we are trying to come up with ideas of things that can be sitting on the tables in bowls - most likely non-perishables. We want it to be easy but still have class. Doesn't need to be too filling, as they will be having dinner an hour later or so...

PLEASE - your ideas would be so helpful! Thank you!

How many people do you have coming? Will the venue set them up? How much are we talking about?

Our guest list is close to 200. Our venue's employees will basically set the lighting and everything from there on is our responsibility...

When is your wedding? Fruit trays, cheese and crackers would be great unless it's too hot to keep them outside. If the venue is not going to take care of that, who are you planning to asign this to?

Cheese and cracker trays, a simple antipasto display that you assemble, kettle corn, pretzels, veggie crudités tray. Lots of things you can have ready to just set on tables =).

Serving only non-perishable will be difficult. You need a great deal of appies for 200 people.

Will you have help setting them up? If so, you can try a tray of wraps, mini hoagies, chicken tenders or hot wings. Also, there is a buffalo chicken dip that you do in a crock pot, that is served with slices of bread of crackers. Guac and tortilla chips could work as well.

    Good luck!
