T-shirts as wedding favors?

@courtkneekp, on March 20, 2017 at 5:44 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 31

ETA: Thanks! With your help, I've decided to not go for the tshirts!

I know there are varying opinions out there on non-edible favors. I don't trust myself to feed that many people(125ish)...I was thinking of seed bombs or maybe succulents, but I had the random thought of doing t-shirts. Is that totally crazy? I figure I'd wear it if I went to a wedding and they were giving them out...I can get our wedding colors at a pretty great deal..

I honestly wouldn't wear this. Go with one of your first two options.

This is a know your crowd/guest list kind of thing.

I know a handful of my friends and family would love this, but the other half would never wear them. A few people would take them and do housework in them.

Just know favors are going out of style, so do not feel you HAVE to do one.

I wouldn't wear it either. Seed bombs are probably the easiest/most practical of the options.

I think this would be a great idea for a jack and jill giveaway, but not a wedding. I'd go with seeds or the succulent Smiley smile

Thanks everyone! I'm not settled on anything specific yet. Just bouncing around some ideas lol

I feel like 2/3 of our guests would think they're hilarious and wear them anytime they knew they'd see us, but the other 1/3 would probably just tuck them away somewhere...

I would probably never wear this or wear it to bed only.

I wouldn't wear this at all. I'd rather get a succulent

Just thinking about what a logistical nightmare this would be gives me a headache. You'd need everyone to give you their shirt size, order the right amounts in the right sizes, make sure the right size is in the right seat/bag/wherever.

And if you go the one size for everybody route, even fewer people would wear it...

I wouldn't wear it either. I also would think about the logistical difficulty for you in figuring out shirt sizing.

I hate collecting unnecessary stuff so I would not even take this home.

I honestly wouldn't wear a t-shirt. It's sort of awkward for me but I can't quite place why.

If you're trying to save money at all, you could get some basic succulents and propagate them. For my shower, I propagated succulents last summer and my mom is going to put them in little votives with a note with something like "Grown by the bride just for you". I honestly propagated them with no real intention of using them for something specific but then my mom mentioned succulents so I gave them to her. They're still sort of tiny but I think it adds to the thought.

I used this method with that exact variety: https://needlesandleaves.net/blog/2013/5/31/propagating-leggy-succulents

I love free t-shirts but I use them to sleep or clean in. Cute design though. I would go with another favor or none at all.

I personally wouldn't take one, but as PP's have said, this is a know your crowd type thing. Other people will take anything. I'd prefer an edible favor or the Succulents because I love them. It's a cute idea but I think you might be stuck with a bunch of shirts.

I mean how are you gonna order sizes for 125 guests? Randomly?

It occurred to me because I'm making new shirts for my coworkers to wear at work(NWR). But I hadn't thought of sizing everyone :/

Skip the favors altogether! That's becoming more common, and FH and I are definitely planning to, which means we can devote more money to cool stuff! Actually we decided to bring in some locally made, fancy popsicles for everyone as a late night surprise (they're being served from the company's cute little popsicle bike thing) and that still didn't cost as much as any favors I researched.
