Switched florist less than 3 weeks before the Wedding!

Laura, on June 14, 2017 at 12:12 PM Posted in Planning 0 17

Curious if anyone else getting close is having trouble with communication with vendors?

I started contacting my florist over a month ago (through email since that is what she gave me when we met the first time). I had a meeting coming up in a couple of weeks with my wedding coordinator so I wanted to confirm details, pick up times with the florist etc. I let her know I was meeting with my coordinator and that is why I was trying to get everything confirmed. She never confirmed anything with me, and I didn't have any of the details for my meeting with my coordinator. After about 2 or 3 weeks of not hearing from her I emailed again to make sure she got my first email and still got nothing back. I also let her know I was going to be stopping by the flower shop (during business hours) and gave her a specific time and day that I would be by to drop off my ribbons etc. (At this point we are 3 weeks out from the wedding) I never heard back once again (continued in next post)

I called the morning I was to stop by and talked to a girl there and let her know I would be coming in that afternoon. ( I even gave her a specific time) I got there and the shop was closed down for the rest of the day, even though there business hours said they were open for a couple more hours! I called and left a voicemail stating calmly that I had been trying to get hold of someone for over a month with no response, and with 3 weeks until the wedding I would feel much better if someone could please reach out and communicate with me. Again... nobody ever called me back... so I decided to just go with someone else because I felt stressed with the lack of communication! Thankfully I found another shop (recommended by a friend) that has been communicating with me great!

I did try the florist again to let them know to please cancel my wedding date. Of course no one picked up so I left yet another voicemail a couple of days ago, but still haven't heard anything....

How can they stay in business with this kind of communication?!?

Hope you ladies are having better luck with your vendors. Just thankful it's taken care of nowSmiley smile

I've had communication problems but with my dj and not my florist. We also decided to switch, but with a month to go.

Goodness! I'd leave a review so others don't have to go through the same thing!

Sorry to hear this and it does suck! What does your contract say about communications? My florist (our beloved @Rachel) had a clause in the contract on how I can reach her. Did you pay this florist any money? How were her reviews online?

My florist is the same way! I emailed her over a month ago and I never got a response then my fiance called and said they would call back and we still have not heard from them. It's so stressful, I'm thinking of switching my florist too.

There wasn't many reviews but the few there were were decent... at the time I picked her I couldn't find anyone else, and I liked her price. From what I can tell she doesn't service a lot of weddings.

Thankfully there wasn't a contract and I didn't pay her anything! Whew! All I filled out was a piece of paper with my info for the wedding etc.

The new place I was referred to has amazing reviews though and my friend has seen her do three other weddings and says she does a great job! Thankful!

So glad to hear you found someone and didn't lose any money on this, but how frustrating you had to chase them for so long!

So glad you were able to find someone else, and even better that you didn't have a contract with the last florist and aren't out any money!

That lack of communication is not acceptable.

Sounds like you really dodged a bullet. I HATE non-responsiveness from vendors, it worries me!

Just a thought: you say you wonder how they can stay in business like this. Do you actually know that they *have* stayed in business? You went there during their business hours and found the shop closed. Any chance they folded and didn't have the decency to contact you and let you know?

Well through the door of the shop it looked very much open still, as in you could see decor and flowers sitting around, but the sign said closed. (looked like they just closed early for the day) Also there is the fact that someone answered the phone that morning when I called and said I was coming in that day. So I do think they are open.

Ah, gotcha. I missed that you had spoken to an actual person there. I was thinking you were just leaving voicemails.
