Sweating for the Wedding

Sara, on October 16, 2019 at 11:30 AM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 16

Hi everyone!

While I'm very excited to be planning my wedding, I know I need to drop some lbs before I get much farther.

I know I'm not alone in this, so what are some things you do to keep yourself motivated, and on track to your goals?

Much love,
Sara

I used weight watchers (online only- no meetings) for a while, combined with regular exercise and it worked great. I've lost about 20 lb. I got lazy with weight watchers after about 8 months so I'm not doing it now, but I learned a lot of healthier habits from it. Instead, I decided to train for my first 5k! I'm using couch 2 5k (free app) to train which is an 8 week program, and the 5k is mid-December so it's the perfect amount of time to motivate me to stay on track!

I've tried WW before, but not much luck... I may give it another try though. Couch 2 5k sounds like fun! I'll have to check it out. Thank you! Smiley smile

I did couch to 5k before, it was a very easy way to get running (even though I hate running). I try to do 30 day challenges that target areas that I'm particularly concerned about for the wedding (ie armpits, stomach, upper back). That way I have days to keep track of and it builds, kind of similar to couch to 5k.

It helped that my husband was also dieting/working out so it felt more like a team effort. I was also working on skin & hair & nail health, so it felt like a full body improvement if that makes sense. I cut out soda, desserts, and coffee creamer. I drank 1 cup of black coffee everyday then just water all the rest of the day. We started eating healthier, not a specific diet but just making conscious decisions to have fruit & veggies as sides, nothing with a ton of butter or cheese or fat, just healthier things! I took a HIIT class twice a week at a local gym, and used the Tone It Up app 3 days a week to do workouts at home. Then we walked together on the weekends at least 3 miles. It helped a lot, we both lost 15 lbs. My husband has continued to lose weight, he has lost 25 lbs currently even though he has gained a ton of muscle!

That's fantastic! My FH and I used to walk about 3 miles a day and we both lost tons of weight then. Now we do that on the weekends, but not much during the week.

Yeah! We don't have a ton of time during the week during busy seasons, and I like having different workouts and not always walking. But the walking was great for us & our dog, and we turned it into hiking & different walks so that was always fun!

I like @fitgirls online and also @madeline_moves . Check out both ! If you don’t want to check them out, just start lifting weights or do resistance stuff. Not everything is cardio. For the most change it’s weight lifting !

Weight Watchers is great!! You can track what you eat right in the app and don't have to figure out how many points something is, you can scan everything. There's lot of online community groups to join for accountability too!

I think some motivation for you might be to tape a picture of your dream dress somewhere where you'll see it regularly, at work or on your bathroom mirror or on your fridge. That might keep you focused to get where you want to be !

Hi Sara! I do Beachbody and I absolutely LOVE the variety in their programs and that they come with guided nutrition. I am able to eat real foods and have a lot of support and information right at my fingertips. I'd be happy to tell you more if you'd like!

I found it was best to get into a routine and stick to it. Eventually, it will become easy! My fitbit also keeps me motivated as It is super annoying when I do not reach my step goal for the day! If you're looking for an app, I recommend my fitness pal!
