Sustainable wedding centerpiece ideas?

123456mb, on August 6, 2021 at 1:51 PM Posted in Style and Décor 1 10

Hi everyone!!

My fiance and I are getting married next June. We're trying to figure out wedding centerpiece ideas that are somewhat sustainable and maybe even give back to the community in some way. We really don't want leftover junk once the wedding is over.

I have a friend who did fruit bowls as centerpieces and then donated the fruit to a local food pantry. Do any of you have any ideas similar to this, or any other ideas that can give back to the community?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

If you stick with traditional florals you can donate them to a local hospice or nursing home! My mom works at hospice and the patients LOVE that!

I did planted flowers in tin cans and then you can donate them to nursing homes or other organizations to plant afterwards!

We had traditional floral centerpieces and we donated them to a local nursing home the day after our wedding. The residents loved them!

I’d probably stay away from food as these days, places might not accept it. Plants or flowers would be beautiful. You could also get a pillar candle from the dollar store and add flower petals or greenery around the base. Beautiful inexpensive lighting!

We did potted plants (Tuberous Begonias) and offered them to guests, but those that were left after any guests wanted one, we sent to a local nursing home (with our photographer, who was familiar with that particular facility).

Maybe you can just use some framed engagement photos of the two of you, then when you’re done you can put them around the house. It’s a good use for engagement photos since they don’t have much of a use olanywat and guests typically don’t gets to see them otherwise.

Could you do kind of... hampers of tinned and non-perishable food wrapped up with ribbons and dotted with a few flowers, to be given to whatever food drive type places near you?
