Look at this video... But how could you have a surprise wedding without both going for a marriage license in advance?

Some places will issue a marriage license a year in advance so they could have had it already in preparation of the nuptials without even having anything in place yet.

If my FH did that, I would have walked the hell away. I'm not high maintenance but I'll be damned if I'm having a flash mob wedding in a mall courtyard.

In Wayne County, MI (Detroit), where I'm getting married, only one person needs to appear in person to apply for wedding certificate. But you need the birth certificates and everything. This may only apply if both people are not residents of MI, but I'm not sure.

I would lose it. I think this is incredibly inconsiderate to plan a wedding without one of the couple's input. But I also feel the same way about over the top proposals. You don't do that kind of shit unless you 100% know your partner is okay with it.

ETA: Ugh, I may be a Grinch, but I just can't get over this. Like, what if she had a song she wanted to walk down the aisle to since she was like 8 and her fiance didn't know? Or what if she didn't want just her dad to walk her down, but both of her parents? Oof.

Well she looked happy, but I'm not sure I'd want the Cheesecake Factory and Chicos as my wedding backdrop. She may be the type of girl though that doesn't really enjoy planning, just wants it to fall into place and so maybe that was perfect, no stress for her and everyone was there. Personally I love the planning process, but hey everyone is different. I hope she was happy with it!

Wow- that seems like a big chance! I'll admit that I never had any thoughts about what I wanted at the wedding, the dress, songs, etc. before starting to plan the wedding, so *I* don't think I would have been upset by it...but wow!

I can't tell if she's pissed or happy to be honest. Sometimes I cry when I'm pissed lol. FH wants this wedding planned and perfected (as much as we can) just as much as I do. Vegas did cross our minds a few times though lol.

Her whole family was in on it, so hopefully someone would have told her fiance it was a bad idea if it was something she wouldn't have wanted. But all I'm thinking is 'what if there was someone she wanted there who wasn't invited?" 'what if she doesn't like the dress?" I definitely would put more effort into hair and makeup for my wedding than for a friend's photo shoot..
