Mine was and wasn't. I had found the ring months before and I had kind of cornered his sister at a family event and she admitted he had told her that "Betsy (me) was going to be very happy soon." When he asked me to go on their terrace on New Year's Eve to take a sunset selfie I thought "ok weirdo it's really cold out but if you really want to, alright" got all bundled up and went out into the MN cold for him to ask me. Apparently it was a blonde moment for me, didn't even suspect after months of questioning when will it happen.

TLDR: I knew because I found the ring but didn't know he was going to do it when he did.

I got engaged on my graduation day! We had just walked out of the ceremony and he walked me over to the flower trees to take pictures. As the photographer took my then boyfriend and my pictures, my family began to roll out a banner they had for me. I walked over and the sign said congratulations. As I was thanking them for the sign, Robert (my fiancé) walked over. They then flipped the sign and it said “will you marry me” and I turned around and there Robert was on one knee ☺️
I did kind of know before hand, but it was still a wonderful semi surprise

I was but wasn't. We talked about marraige and agrees it's what we want. There was no big 1 knee thing. It was like 2 months later he asked me what i wanted for my birthday. I said a traditional proposal. So 2 days after my birthday and the day before his he gave me a ring.

We’ve been together for 7 years to the date (he proposed on our 7th anniversary) and we’ve talked about marriage a lot. I was surprised that he did it on that day and how he did it but I knew it was coming eventually. He even texted my mom and dad and asked for their “okay” to do it and he recorded it!!! Best fiancé ever!!!

I always knew it would happen but I didn’t expect it to be on that day or how he did it! He got my mom and dads phone numbers from my phone and asked them for their “okay” to propose. HE EVEN GOT IT ALL ON CAMERA!!! He’s the best fiancé ever! I love him dearly. He told his family at Easter while I was with my family and he had been saving since September 2017. His boss got him the cake pictured above and I thought it was GREAT! 😂Completely shocked and not at the same time.

Technically he hasn't proposed just yet. Lol He's waiting to surprise me on our vacation coming up. I don't have any details and I dont handle surprises very well. We've been discussing planning details for over a year. I know it's coming, just not sure when. We are the very best friends and can't imagine life without each other.

Looking back at it, I had a hunch he will propose. I was teasing my FH about not wanting a diamond engagement ring and he replied with "I think you'll like what I had in mind."Fast forward months later, he proposed with his late mother's ring and it was absolutely perfect.

I was completely surprised!!! I knew it was coming eventually, but when he finally did it, I didn’t see it coming. He had been out of town, and I thought he was still out of town. He kept calling me and talking about work and how it was going(little did I know he was home the whole time). So I slept over with my two best friends and we got all dressed up in the morning and went to brunch(they were in on it). And out of nowhere he showed up outside the car. At this point I was completely surprised! I was excited to see him and he said “let’s go for a walk”. So we went down to a pier and he turned to me, and in that split second I knew. Then he got down on one knee and proposed!!! His cousin also showed up to take pictures out of nowhere!! He planned it perfectly without me suspecting a thing!

It was a total surprise. I always said i would never get married after being wit my FH almost 5 years he proposed on Christmas day when all our family was here. He had my best friend carry in a big present while i was decorating a cake. Then they called me in the living room and told me to open it facing her i asked why she said just open it. I opened the big box and got chills like i knew but didnt know. There was a little box inside that was wrapped i opened it with my hands shaking and there was a piece of paper i took it out and read it. It said "Turn around" i looked at my friend and said turn around she said yea turn around i turned around and there he was on one knee my mouth hit the floor. So yes very surprised

I was so surprised when he actually proposed but I had knew it was coming at some point. We have been together for 10 years now and marriage was always the plan so I was just waiting for him to finally ask me.
