Super nervous for my wedding!

Daniela, on February 3, 2021 at 11:17 PM Posted in Planning 3 17
Hi everyone! My wedding is two weeks away and I am getting more and more nervous by the day. I am also super excited of course! But my fiancé doesn’t seem to understand why I’m so anxious, the thing is that I don’t like being the center of attention and I get extremely nervous when I think of having to walk in a crowd of people and having to say my vows out loud! I have major stage fright! Anyone have any tips that could be helpful to ease my anxiety? Thanks in advance!

    Hi, actor here!

Stage fright is common, and really easy to battle, I promise.

    First - practice breathing!

I mean it. Take a few minutes each day and focus on your breathing. You can do this through yoga or meditation, or just taking a few quiet moments and breathing slowly, steadily, and mindfully.

Think about your FS while you do this, because that's all you'll be thinking about day of, anyway.

When you feel like you've got the breathing down, walk a little with it. Keep focusing on your breathing and your FS.

Day of, do JUST THAT. Look at your FS while you walk down the aisle, and focus on your breathing. You'll be blocking everything else out, and won't think about it.

Second, remember that everyone there *loves you*, *supports you*, and is only there to bring you joy.

Hopefully you invited everyone because they love you, and you them (vs over some sort of obligation) so focus on that if the crowd bothers you. They're there to celebrate you and your fiance. Plus, most people get nervous so even if you stumble on your vows no one is going to criticize you.

My fiancé and I are pretty shy too! We decided to exchange our written vows at our first look instead of at the ceremony Smiley smile and makes me more excited to do it that way!

I agree with previous posts- remember everyone there loves you and yes, practice out loud your vows. We practiced our first dance in my wedding shoes to help break them in and ease our nerves. ❤️

    Hi Daniela,

You will be fine! I've been a MOH to both my sisters wedding and they also had major anxiety + nervousness before their big day. Its very normal and it will go away. Try taking a some relaxing tea the day of or a glass of wine or drink that relaxes you. If you have bridemaids they got you on this. Also, once you walk down the aisle you will only see your man n everyone else will be a blur. Vows time try just focusing on him only n no one else. You got this! Congrats in advance, itll be a lovely stress free day.

I'm on the same boat as you. My wedding is 6 months away but I know the closer it gets the worse my anxiety will be. I'm shy and don't like attention either. We are only having 60 guests but I'll still be nervous. I'm take a shot before walking down the aisle.

I'm right there with you girl! My wedding officiant gave me some great advice that helped me settle and I hope it will for you too.

Take 5 minutes by yourself right before the ceremony to settle your breathing. While you do this think of all the reasons you are getting married. What drew you to each other and why did you fall in love. Think happy thoughts! When you starting walking zero in on your love. Everything else will fall away =)

Your guests love you and are so excited to be there don't forget that!

Out of the 100 reasons contributed to our decision to elope, this was one of them. Hate being the center of attention, and for most of my life I've been tokd that I'm unattractive due to my dark skin and coarse hair. Even my FH's brothers refuse to date women in their own race (same as mine) bc they say they are all unattractive. As a result, I opted out of having a large audience. Not to mention, we'll be saving over $20,000 USD!

Honey, don't worry, my wedding is next Sunday and I'm already so anxiety filled, for being the center attention, and for it being officially game day. @_@
