There are advantages and disadvantages to pretty much every aspect of planning an event. I'l go for the unplugged ceremony and let the pros I hired do their jobs.

Did you watch the video though? I think a good argument was made.

I did watch the video. She said she has not received her professional photos to compare yet to her favorites that her guests took, or to see if the people taking the phone pictures interfered with the professional shots so I don’t think she can really say yet if it worked out. The photo she shared that she said looked just like a professional shot did not at all. Hopefully it worked out for her and I think she is happy with the choice, but I’m still leaning unplugged.

Oh well, to each his own. I totally agree that guests may end up taking amazing photos which you will receive immediately compared to the photographer photos, and I know SO MANY brides that were super thankful they didn't have unplugged ceremonies, because they would've missed out on some of their favorite photos from guests cells phones. It's a personal choice.

Unplugged ceremony all the way for me. I've photographed weddings tho, so I have their perspective as well. And honestly, if you're happy with your friends cell phone pics over the professional images, you didn't hire the right pro photographer. I've already told my fiance, photography will probably be the biggest expense of our wedding, and the most important thing I will not compromise on.
