Sunscreen & wedding

Sara, on April 24, 2017 at 4:44 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

I'm very pale and it's looking like it will be very sunny and warm on our wedding day. Even though it's an evening wedding, the sun won't be setting until almost 8 pm so I'll still need to wear sunscreen.

I know that sunscreen can wash you out in photos; it can also make me look greasy and gross.

Has anyone else had this problem and is there any sunscreen that would be best for photographs and for not looking greasy on our big day?

How long are you going to be outside for?

I'm super pale and cautious about the sun too, but if you are just having like a 20 minute ceremony and it's after the peak sun time (10-2) I think you will be ok without, just for that day.

I would ask your makeup artist. They should have some recommendations!

Use (or request your MOA to use) foundation with spf to protect your face. I also agree with marryingmurray that your MUA is a great resource for this as well.

You should be wearing sunscreen every day, especially if you are really pale. Prevention is the best measure against aging. I use Neutrogena Clear Face spf 30 right now and it doesn't make me oily or effect my make up. My dermatologist said everyone should use at least spf 50 on a daily basis though so I'm looking for something stronger.

For matte sunscreens, you're going to want to look at Korean or Japanese brands. Even the most 'non-greasy' western formulas do not come close to comparing. I have never had a naked-face feeling with sunscreens until I went with a Japanese formulation. My everyday sunscreen is Biore watery essence (spf 50 PA ), but they have waterproof and sweat resistant formulations as well.

To avoid the white cast in pictures, you will want to go for a chemical sunscreen rather than physical.

For what it's worth, foundations with spf never reach their advertised spf effect unless you put on a TON. Like, way more than any girl ever puts on their face.

    Thanks everyone!

I will be outside the whole time...the venue is an outdoor venue. I do have sunscreen in my makeup for my face as well as my face lotion that I wear everyday; it's my my arms, chest & back that I'm worried about. I appreciate all of the input and will look into these sunscreens.

I am also super-pale and prone to sunburns. BUT when the sun is at a lower angle, that makes a big difference. Will you be outside between about 10 am and 3 pm? If not, I wouldn't worry about it.

Defer to the MUA they should know what is best for the situation. I think a lot of traditional SPF and mess the application of the make up though. There has to be products that she can use though because you aren't the first bride to get married outdoors. Lets just hope it isn't raining instead.

Hi Sara, as a pale redhead bride to be with a summer wedding coming up, I'm interested to hear how you went finding something suitable. Most sunblocks for the body seem to be too heavy, oily or smelly for the big day. Your research results would be appreciated. C
