Sunrise invite

Jennifer, on May 7, 2018 at 9:10 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 59

FH & I received a wedding invite from one of his friends, they are a recently matched couple, maybe dating a year so we were a little surprised & super excited to receive a wedding invite for this June.

That was until we opened the invitation: The wedding is at sunrise on the beach here at the Jersey Shore, the reception is a breakfast reception (I am all about breakfast!), all done by 9 am. So my question to you all - would you attend knowing you need to get up and get to the beach by 5:15 AM?? I am leaning towards no.

I'm a little odd because I typically start work by 6am so it wouldnt be that big of a difference for me. If it was a good enough friend then yes I would. I also would hope they had plenty of coffee for me.

I would totally go to that! Especially if they have a hotel block and you can stay the night before! I love the beach and am a morning person. So long as they are hosting well, and have a block prepared for people to stay at I really don't see anything wrong with this.

I would! It sounds super pretty and romantic, and different! I'd do it just for sunrise on the beach photos!

It's one day and it sounds like the reception food would be super yummy! And once it's over, you can go back and take a nap! Smiley laugh

Sure, why not! It sounds super fun and unique. I'm more of a morning person so I'd prefer this to a late night reception. I'd get a hotel nearby the night before, enjoy the wedding, and then go back to the hotel have a nap (if needed) and spend the rest of the day enjoying Jersey.

I'm definitely not a morning person, so unless it was someone who I was very close to, I probably would skip it and send a nice gift. It sounds like it could be a beautiful ceremony though!

I'd go! It's one morning out of the year and might be the only time I could experience a sunrise wedding.

Those photos will be absolutely breathtaking! Go!!! The best part is that it sounds pretty relaxed as far as getting ready, and most people (including me) are usually already up it getting up anyway for work so your body is used to that timeframe.

Yes, I would ...... for sure if it was a close friend or family! Actually I'd probably do it regardless since I've never been to that type of wedding. I'd be curious!

I am a night owl so I was initially thrown off, but you all made me realize it will be amazing. Thank you!

I’m not a morning person but I would love an excuse to see a sunrise. Plus afterwards we could hang at the beach or do something fun with other friends attending. I just hope they have a plan b in case the weather doesn’t cooperate

I would absolutely go as well! It sounds beautiful and super intimate. I'm all for something different now and again. In today's world of pinterest weddings that all start to blend together, I love something new.

Ehhhhhhh it’s not something I’d go out of my way to attend unless I was super close to the person. I don’t do super well having to get up before it’s light out and I imagine we’d be like, seared and ready while it’s still dark?! That it’s all wrapped up by 9 to me is the worst part. Like I guess I go take a nap? But ill be thrown off the whole day. Basically, I’d have to REALLY like you to do this to myself

So I’m not an early morning person, but this sounds really nice! Totally different from the normal wedding style and I love breakfast foods and the beach. If it were me, I’d probably go.

Absolutely! What a wonderful and unique idea. What's also super nice is it won't be too hot that early in the morning, especially at the beach. My husband and I often bring our breakfast to the beach on Long Island. We like to be there by 7am and leave by 12 noon. It's so peaceful in the morning.

A sunrise ceremony would be a beautiful and unique ceremony which you are unlikely to be invited to again. This an opportunity for you to celebrate your friendship and support them as they enter this new chapter of their life. Perhaps you could go to sleep early the night before, but I encourage you to make the right decision for you and your partner.
