Sunrise Beach wedding... Undecided on reception🤦

Latoya, on October 9, 2018 at 5:08 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 19
Our wedding is scheduled for sunrise in Feburary 2019. My idea of a reception would be a traditional breakfast package. Our reception would begin typically around 8am.. My future husband and mother desires to have a secondary evening reception. I disagree. If anyone would decide to join us on our journey accept the invitation of a sunrise wedding with optional breakfast... Smiley amazing Am I wrong for feeling like this??

Idk if I would if I were a guest. 8am is rough to swing especially with the time it would take you and your bridesmaid to get ready along with the guess traveling to the area, getting ready, etc. What would happen after the breakfast? Everyone just go back home?

We have the option to stay at the resort. It's a high tourist venue location. Sunrise meaning 630/7am ceremony time. I do not have a big wedding party. 1 maid of honor, 1 best man.

So what time would everyone have to start getting ready? Isn't sunrise around 7am in February? I wouldn't attend a wedding that early in the morning. How are you going to find vendors that are willing to set up a wedding that early?

Still if you have hair and makeup done that means you and your moh would have to start getting ready at like 330am or 4am at the latest!

Personally, I would have a night reception. Breakfast for guests after the ceremony but definitely have a night time reception as a courtesy and better timing option for your guests. No one is going to want to party it up with the bride and groom at 8am

I actually love this idea and hate that it's not more popular. I think sunrises are so pretty and so want to go to a wedding like this as a guest!

Thank you for some positive input Ingrid. Sunrises are the beautiful beginning of a new day, new opportunity and new blessings.

I'm undecided. A morning wedding with paid breakfast at beach resort.... Evening reception to follow will bring unexpected guest and become far more costly with 2 large families.

Is this a destination wedding? If so, definitely do more than a breakfast. I feel like guests and loved ones deserve more than just a breakfast in general but that’s just me.

Majority of us are from South Florida. I can't imagine anything more to do with older guests. The ones around my age group will most likely join us the entire day which means no more than a group of 20, totaling 10 couples. We are all booking rooms at the hotel to enjoy the beach and it boardwalk area. Maybe a party bus brunch??

I think this is a unique idea. If it is what you want, then go for it. I am unclear on what your guest count is. Are you planning on having a large guest list? I think it might be kind of tough for people to be up and ready to attend a wedding that early. Only you know your crowd and if this will be an issue for them. If you chose not to have an evening reception, I would caution to not be offended if people chose not to participate at that hour.

I went to one of H's friends sunrise weddings! It was in May (not Feb not sure where you are located but that would be cold here in NJ). It was lovely! Afterwards we had a breakfast reception - low key no dj but the mimosas & bloody Mary's were flowing. I think its a great idea and would love it!

I know this was a year ago, but what did you end up doing? Because I’m having a sunrise wedding. Maybe 25-30 will be coming. It’ll be at Fort Lauderdale beach & I’m a SoFlo native as is everyone else. Do we pay for breakfast? Or can people buy their own lol

    Good morning Storm,
First of all CONGRATULATIONS to you and your hubby to be🥰. Truthfully, we had a courthouse wedding Monday (January 28th) morning the week of our scheduled wedding at the courthouse (Saturday, February 2nd) and preceded to work that day after still paying for breakfast at a nearby diner. Left for our that Saturday. I must admit it wasn't what I wanted but the relief of not having a bigger ceremony was great and less stressful. Sunrise Beach wedding... Undecided on reception🤦 1

I think sunrise is such a cool idea!

no not at all. this is your day - i don't think you should pay for two receptions. if they want to be there for you they will be.

That would be beautiful! It’s a hard time for people to wake up but when they see the beautiful sun rising it’ll be a beautiful backdrop. Breakfast foods are my favorite meals. You can jazz it up and maybe have mimosas as well.
