Sunday weddings

Selina, on July 29, 2019 at 2:10 PM Posted in Planning 0 8
Has anyone had a Sunday wedding ? At some venues Friday and Sunday weddings have cheaper food and beverage minimums and cheaper package prices. I’m starting to consider the Sunday before Labor Day Monday since people usually have off that Monday. I really don’t feel open to doing a Friday wedding. Comment with your experience of having a Sunday wedding or if you are going to have it on a Sunday !

My first marriage was on a Sunday and everything worked out great because we gave everyone enough notice. A holiday weekend could be a bit trickier though because people make family plans. You might need to reach out to a few people you would invite and get some input.

I think if you did it before labor day though a lot of people would already have three day weekend plans but in general i think Sunday weddings are fine. I went to one last month!

I got married Sunday March 24th, I had an evening ceremony and reception 6pm to 12am and it was a child free wedding. I spread the word by mouth when we first booked our venue so that parents could make necessary child care arrangements and/or look into time off of work for Monday. A few of my guests maybe 10 left after dinner and the remaining 90 stayed until it ended. Our wedding was 101 people including myself and the groom. All parents felt like they had a night out without their kids and greatly enjoyed themselves. I would have looked more into an late morning/ early afternoon ceremony with a brunch reception but we really were happy with the outcome. If you let your people know ahead of time you should be good.

I’m doing it on a Sunday. If I do it on Saturday people will probably take Friday off, so they can just take Monday off instead. Were also ending at 8 so people can drive home early if they want.

My first wedding was on a Sunday and I got amazing deals at the venue we chose. Not only did they give us a much lower food and beverage minimum but they waived all the rental fees and gave us 3 different spaces so we could have our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception in separate areas of the venue.

I would suggest, however, that you make sure your venue doesn't charge "Saturday" prices for Sundays that fall before a Monday holiday like Labor Day. Some do because they view these just as golden as Saturdays.

I've been to a couple of Sunday weddings and they were great. One was brunch themed and everyone had a blast.

I am having my wedding on a Sunday of Columbus day weekend. It can be a little bit trickier being a holiday weekend, but so far things have worked out fine. I would say if you are doing it on labor day weekend, plan early as things like hotels and restaurants will book up fast.
