Sunday Weddings- Your thoughts?

I?'m inviting around 130 people total, and I'm hoping that turns out to be 100-115 people and not any less because I? still want it to be a lively event. (There will be alcohol, just FYI)

I? just wanted to see what people's thoughts were about Sunday weddings. I? want it to be fun and I? don't want my guests worrying about the work week ahead while they are there.

We are having a Sunday wedding and will start at 5 and end at 10. We are only inviting 110 people even if half show we are still going to have a good time. Beside I think with enough time in advance family and friends have a chance to put in for the day off.

We had a Sunday wedding. Started at 3pm and ended at 10pm. You never really know who will leave early and who will stay. But we are so glad we did it. It was meaningful to us and plus it was much cheaper. DH is Canadian, so we had his family and friends to think about it too. Having the Sunday wedding was much easier for everyone.

We're having a Sunday wedding, but Monday is a holiday. We scheduled it that way for traveling purposes, but didn't save us anything for having a Sunday wedding vs Saturday. Here Friday-Sundays are treated the same. With that said, the people who want to be there will be there regardless of the day of the week.

I decided on a Sunday because it was cheaper and because its a holiday weekend so most of our guests will have off... (not everyone tho')

We are starting the event at 4 and expect to be over around 10:30... Yes, I want people to go and enjoy and drink and dance, but if they want to leave before 10:30 Im ok with that too...

We had a Sunday wedding that was about a 2 hour drive for most people. We did have a LOT of guests decline because they weren't able to take the extra time off. HOWEVER we had a blast! All of our closest friends and family made it work, and I wouldn't have changed anything for the world.

My cousin had a Sunday wedding. It was the best wedding (besides my own haha) that I've been to! It was really fun and people danced. Just be realistic and understand it won't go all night and some people may leave early.

I've been to more Sunday weddings than Saturday ones. They're still fun and depending on your crowd, the party may still last till 11 or 12. You do also have to realize that some may leave early and be ok with it. Mine is in a Sunday and we have the hall till 12:30. I'm predicting most will leave by 10 pm and I'm good with that!

UO, but I’m trying to give you an honest answer. Just remember that the majority of people telling you it’s fine are people who also had or are having a Sunday wedding. Anything but Saturday was not an option for us and if we couldn’t afford the Saturday price, that venue wasn’t in budget or an option for us. Any OOT Sunday wedding we wouldn’t attend as DH has very limited vacation time and we want to spend it for ourselves, to actually go on vacation. Something local we’d probably attend, but leave early because we both have to wake up at 5 am for work. Of course most of your guests will suck it up and they’re not going to tell you it’s annoying because that’s rude, but believe me, they’re probably annoyed. ETA: a word

That's a lot of people to expect to show up. Usually you try and count on about half of your invite list number. For a Sunday wedding, you might have less than that because of things like work. It's your day, but I always get a little annoyed with Sunday weddings as a guest. Especially if I have to travel at all.

Tanna G, then just don't go? I don't think op has to count on half of her guests not showing because it's a Sunday wedding. At least that wasn't true for mine. (109 invited and 97 came) If someone is that annoyed by a Sunday wedding than just don't go. Problem solved. And Sos, of course the posters telling op that it will be fine have had Sunday weddings are telling op it's fine, because they were fine. In my case it was more than fine. I really couldn't have asked for a better day and if anyone was annoyed by it then they did a fantastic job of hiding it. I don't doubt that you're annoyed and inconvenienced by a Sunday wedding but i also don't doubt my own experiences at Sunday weddings or doubt my friends and family when they tell me a month later that my wedding was one of the most fun they've ever attended.

I wanted a Sunday wedding too but it was not much cheaper for our venue (and that would have been the only cost saving device) and our wedding was 11am to 3pm so Saturday made more sense. Have your wedding on whatever day you want - you just never know who can come and why they can't attend.

I've heard people say they prefer Friday weddings over Sunday, and others say that they prefer Sunday over Friday (as a cheaper option to Saturday). Personally I wanted more of a party, it's the beginning of the weekend, vibe and therefore went for the Friday. Sunday weddings tend to be a little more laidback and less party-like. It's a know yourself/know your crowd decision you have to make! Also at most venues there are two weddings a day on Saturday and Sunday, but only 1 on Friday. I really liked that they offered flex time and were less crazy about scheduling!

The Sunday wedding I just left had exactly four less people than they estimated. The band was going wild, the people were having a ball. The reception started at 5:00.

It's not just 'Sunday'; it's the food, the music, yes...the ceremony and the venue. You can have a draggy, dull wedding on Saturday just as easily as you can have a kicking wedding on Sunday. It's all the party you throw.

Just know that many people may leave early. I was in the same position because we wanted a particular venue and their Saturday cost was out of budget for us because we knew we wanted a live band ($&dollarSmiley winking and several other things that we considered must haves.

We had to decide between a Friday and a Sunday. I chose a Friday because I want a party vibe with lots of dancing. Fridays kick off a weekend and most people are off the next two days so they can enjoy themselves more. Also, that Monday is Christmas so people have a 4 day weekend. Didn't want to do Christmas Eve for those that have family traditions they would want to observe instead. Our wedding starts at 6:30 and goes to 1 am. This allows guests to still work at least a half day, if not full day. And our venue is local to 97% of our guests.

Sunday is fine as long as you understand that the party may end really early. If you're ok with that then go ahead, after checking with VIPs

Check with your venue options to see if any do different pricing during their low-season. Because Daughter was looking at mid-January, her preferred venue offered her Saturday at the Sunday price & guest minimum. It's a semi-inclusive venue and that saved more than $5000, and gave her the Saturday night she really wanted (even though she & FSIL had assumed they'd need to do a Sunday to make the budget work). Comparison shop, and be creative.

My wedding was a Sunday. 10/22/17! We had the Ceremony on site and 3:30 and reception ended at 9! Still early enough for people to get home not super late. Those who wanted to hangout afterwards our venue had a bar for an "after party" area. It was nice. Honestly, i think the work thing is just an excuse. If they care enough about you they can be tired for 1 day of work and be happy for you. Or they can leave a little early. I had a couple of guests leave a little early because of kids and school the next day. Right after we cut the cake. No biggie. If they care they will show their faces! I invited 170 ppl and 150 were able to come which was exactly what we wanted anyway. We didn't choose Saturday because it was $4,000 more for the SAME EVERYTHING. Ridiculous! We actually liked Sunday afternoon better because we were able to have a beautiful day wedding but also into the evening as the sun set at 6pm! So we were able to get day/night photos. Good luck to you! Do what makes YOU happy. Its your wedding. The people who truly care about you will be there. Its your day. Try not to worry about others too much. Just make yourselves happy for YOUR day and all will fall into place!

Mine is on a Sunday! It wasn't a money decisions for us, it's our 10 year anniversary. We have been waiting and waiting to have the wedding we've always wanted and 10 years to the day we started dating seemed perfect for us. I struggles with the Sunday thing for a while, and to be honest I still am a bit. However, we sent out our STDs a little early, and I've had so many people tell me they're so excited and some are happy to have a reason to request a Monday off.

Of course we will understand if some guests don't want to use vacation time to come to our wedding or don't want to be tired the next day. Those who REALLY want to be there will gladly make the arrangements to be there. We have a really cool venue, an awesome DJ, and good food. We're fun people and so are our friends, so I'm expecting a fun SUNDAY night.

As a guest, I'd go to a Sunday wedding without being the least bit annoyed. I've been to lots of Saturday night weddings that were boring, I think the event itself is more important than the day of the week.
