Sunday weddings yay or nay?

What are pros and cons of having a Sunday wedding? FH and I found a venue we fell in love with but price for Saturday seems way out of our budget. Has anyone had a Sunday wedding? Has anyone attended a wedding on a Sunday, what were your thoughts?

I'm doing a Sunday but it's a holiday weekend so it's a little different! I would have been open to a Sunday even if it wasn't a holiday- probably would have just started my ceremony earlier and ended the reception earlier. I think weddings on Friday/Sunday are becoming more of a thing so if it's going to save you money and you get your dream venue then go for it!

My MOH had a Sunday wedding. It was significantly cheaper venue-wise, so that was awesome. The catch was that they picked a 5:30pm ceremony time. They were still partying until midnight, but by 8-9pm people started to trickle out and by 10-11 it was pretty empty. I think Sunday weddings are awesome, but to maximize your wedding experience without people stressing about work, I'd pick a late morning/early afternoon start time.

My fiancé and I just set our date for a Sunday. We are doing it on memorial weekend to a) keep costs down and b) still give people a day to recoup that isn't a work day since most of my family is out of state. I've been able to get serious discounts already (venue minimum $5000 off!). Good luck and I hope this helps!

I've never attended a Sunday wedding, but I do think that Sunday weddings should be a brunch. I personally would not be able to enjoy myself at a wedding reception knowing I had to be at work in the morning.

We're having a Sunday wedding. However our wedding is also a DW. We are renting a beach house so the rentals are Saturday to Saturday so the best day to have the ceremony was on Sunday. We're thinking of making it an early ceremony and a brunch themed reception. I've always wanted my wedding to be on Sunday and haven't had any resistance from any family or friends.

We are having a sunday wedding. Ceremony starts at 3:30 and reception ends at 9. Most guests are within an hour drive and I do anticipate some people will leave a little early. It saved us around 2k though.

Our Sunday wedding is a brunch wedding with an inofficial afterparty. The next day is a Holiday though, so people could stay longer. We picked it, because we'll save money because it's on a Sunday and we'll save money because our alcohol budget can be lower for a brunch wedding. Plus, who doesn't like brunch food?

We are having a Sunday late afternoon wedding and not a holiday. 80% of our guest are from in town and my family traveling took two weeks vacation. We sent our save the dates 9 months in advance so that everyone is aware. Ceremony starts at 4:00pm with a 5:30-11 reception. My fiancé and I don't care if people leave we plan to dance the night away besides we literally did it all by ourselves.

NEclary -- did you check if your venue does discounts for Friday? Someone else mentioned it but Friday weddings usually are discounted too.

On the Sunday wedding I went to most people trickled out after dinner. It depends on how you envision your reception--dancing late into the night with family & friends? Check out Friday. More quiet or over earlier, Sunday would be the way to go.

My friend got married on a Sunday in April due to time restraints. They had only a 4 month engagement and were kind of limited on dates that were left open. They still had great turnout, but only a couple of people stayed in the hotel so they were not able to take advantage of the free shuttle they would have been given had they had more guests stay. This presented a problem in getting the bride and the rest of us bridesmaids up to the venue - about a 5 minute drive, but completely impossible to walk. We worked it out. Just be aware of the fact that a lot of guests may choose not to attend if you have a Sunday evening wedding because they probably have to work the next day. The weddings on Sundays are definitely cheaper though.

@Jahtoya -- that pretty much sounds like what my FH and I talked about doing. Ceremony at 4 and reception 5 to possibly 11. Like you said, we are literally doing everything ourselves.

We are doing a 1 pm Sunday wedding. Our reception is indoor and outdoor so we will have a DJ as well as some lawn games (oversized Jenga, croquet, etc). The cost of the venue, photographer, and caterer was cheaper on a Sunday too. We are doing an after party at a local bar for those who want to come.

I was just talking with some friends about this today (not for mine but just in general) we all agreed that a Sunday brunch wedding would be really fine. But I've never been to one.

I would personally like a Sunday wedding but I like an excuse to take off of work...

    But i also don't work Monday's.

SO.. While it wouldn't affect me, some guests might not show, leave early, or complain. If you're fine with that, then I think those are really the only cons.

I had a Sunday wedding and it didn't feel like it was a Sunday. Everyone was drinking, dancing and having a great time. Ceremony started at 2 and reception ended at 8:00. Plenty of time to get home and go to sleep for work the next morning. It saved us money and everyone had a great time.

We picked Sunday because it's cheaper and our venue has minimums for Friday/Saturday and we don't want to invite people just to fill in the seats. You know your crowd best! I know mine won't mind and will still drink/party.
