Sunday Wedding Timeline/Alcohol Questions

Jaskra, on August 23, 2017 at 7:18 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

So here's the baseline schedule:

Ceremony Start: 3:30p (Sunset is at 5p)

Cocktail Hour: 4p

Dinner/Toasts: 5-6:30p

Dancing: 6:30-11:30p

We have our venue till 1am. So we need at least 1.5hr to clean up afterward (mostly decorations/paraphernalia, tables/chairs are taken care of by the venue staff).

I'm thinking of serving alcohol from 4p-10p.

It's a Sunday and a non-holiday weekend. Comments, suggestions?

Does 10p seem reasonable, too late, too early?

My Sunday wedding will be wrapping up at 9:30 - this is my venue's policy. They do have an option to host an "after party" as well.

Nobody has been upset about the early end time, in fact I've had a few people let me know that they might need to leave right after dinner.

10pm for you should be fine. If you think people will still be in the mood to party, you can organize something casual at a local bar afterward.

We are getting married on a Sunday too. You have 8 hours of festivities. I think 10 is just fine. Leave you guests wanting more so they leave with the " wow that was awesome" impression, not the " that was soooo long"impression. Take into account the average age of your guests. Older folks and those with kids will want our earlier. You can always go to an after party with those who want to continue, hey it's another opportunity to show off your beautiful dress and amazing new husband!

Seems reasonable. I'm pretty sure my reception is wrapping up around 10

Agreed with Kristin - end the dancing a bit closer to the end of the bar. If you end the bar at 10, end dancing at 10:30 or 10:45.

It's so strange to see evening weddings on a Sunday. I've only ever seen morning ones cause everyone always has work the next day. The earliest the better. If I were a guest I'd try to leave right after dinner to be honest just so that I can rest before work the next day.
