Sunburn 2 weeks before wedding?

Amanda, on June 20, 2016 at 9:23 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 26

Went to the beach today and didn't realize how long I had been out. I definitely have a moderate sunburn. Anyone know if this will be gone before my wedding in two weeks? I'm kicking myself for this.

The redness will most likely be gone, but you need to get a moisturizer with aloe asap to make sure you don't peel!

Not sure but here's what you do. Start with witch hazel. Rub it all over the burn. Then rub lavender or tea tree oil. Finish with aloe. Apple cider vinegar (either directly applied or soaking in a bath tub, 2 cups vinegar) will take away the redness.

Red should be gone for sure but like Fitz said, moisturizer with aloe and use it Lots! Sometimes my peeling won't start for a week or so after. You should be good if you use that though.

Mosturize! I did makeup for a bride who went fishing the weekend before her wedding. Covering up the redness was difficult enough, but attempting to cover the peeling skin was a nightmare!

Well, I got sunburn a week ago Saturday (pretty badly). I was wearing a strapless dress to even out some slight tan lines I had gotten a couple weeks prior and let it go a little too long! I am ALMOST done peeling a week and 2 days later. I was putting on lotion every morning and aloe after burn gel at night and still peeled a ton. You'll probably be cutting it close, but depending on how your skin reacts to sun, you might be ok!

Thanks everyone! I'll be sure to grab the aloe and moisturizer. I'm hoping my skin reacts like it usually does and turns more into a light tan rather than peel, but we'll see. I'm just hoping the tan lines don't stay!

It'll definitely be past the red stage and probably done peeling, but keep in mind that if you had straps, you're probably going to have tan lines.

Aloe it up every day. It will be fine by your wedding.

Take it from one very insanely pale Irish girl.... Mix some baking soda in water until the water is cloudy, use a paper towel and liberally rub the baking soda-water mixture right into the skin. This has always taken away the redness overnight for me.

Eta: this has also evened out any "lines" I may have gathered as well.

Do a tea bath! Works like a charm for me every time. I'm pale and burn easily. Run the bath at the hottest temp and add a dozen or so tea bags (regular Lipton black tea) and let it steep for a bit. Then when it's cooled to where you can stand it, get in. Soak in it for like a half hour. Rinse off via the shower once you drain the tub.

It completely takes the sting out and starts turning tan the next day. I have never peeled when I've done this!

*It won't stain your tub, but it will stain your towel. Use an old crappy one. ETA: a lot of words on a phone is hard to proofread, ha.

I use vinegar on sunburns. The redness goes away, and I don't peel. I'm also a very pale person, and don't actually tan.

Aloe at least twice a day. Try to keep your showers short and with cool water. I burned at field day last week, I was only outside for two hours lol, and despite putting aloe on twice a day, I started to peel today.

Tbh, I'm not sure if it's recommended, but I can't stand the peeling, so I used a body scrub on my shoulders today. No regrets lol

How's the sunburn doing Amanda? Believe it or not, I'm still getting a little bit of peeling on my left arm (got a worse burn than my right). But it's really fine and not super noticeable.

    3 more days!!!

Aloe. Tons of aloe. In a day or so, I'd use very gentle exfoliation to help your cells start regenerating.

And when it starts healing... exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate!!!! Also, try keeping your aloe in the fridge. That's where mine starts because it really helps! As a pale German girl I can totally relate. Also stay EXTREMELY hydrated!!! ETA: im taking notes on everyone's cures!!!

Vitamin e oil is the best for sunburns. Also look for lotions/creams that don't have water or alcohol as the first few ingredients as they will dry your skin out more
