Summer Wedding Desserts?

Lex, on May 8, 2018 at 1:05 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 7

Any ideas on some summer wedding desserts? I'm afraid donuts and cupcakes would melt/get sticky if it's hot outside.. or if you are planning on doing donuts/cupcakes how did you keep them from melting?

Is your reception outdoors? If so perhaps consider asking your venue to keep them inside (where it is cool) until it is time to serve them. I would be concerned with attracting bees (or other bugs) to food left out, in addition to the heat.

What is your plan if it is too hot out for guests? You should have a backup plan in place so guests can have a cool spot to relax and get out of the sun. This may be a good spot to have your dessert stationed while it is being served.

That said when I think summer desserts I think something cold like popsicles or ice cream. Maybe you could rent an ice cream cart or something as a special treat.

When I think of summer desserts, I think of ice cream, strawberry shortcake, lemon bars, fruit tarts and pies. I wouldn't leave any of these out in the heat for any length of time. Besides the heat, bugs will be attracted to the desserts.

Ice pops! A lot of cities have '"craft" ice pop companies that'll do events.

An ice cream sundae bar is another option.

At the last wedding expo I went to, there was a gelato cart that would come during your reception! Smiley love

What about a mason jar layered dessert, you can keep it on ice in a pretty ice tub.
