Summer dress; now winter wedding!! 1
Summer dress; now winter wedding!! 2

Hi all! My dress (photos attached) is obviously for summer or warmer weather but I’m now getting married in late fall in New England. Any ideas on what I could wear over my dress that would look good and go well together for most of the event? I am thinking about (and would love) adding sleeves in the same material as the overlay but nervous about how it would look. Help!!

Unless you plan to spend alot of time outdoors in the chilly weather, I honestly wouldn't change a thing. Your venue will be heated to accommodate for the colder weather so sleeves will be too warm. Just get a cute jacket or shawl from Etsy to cover your arms for the few minutes you're outside going from vehicle to the venue.

I agree with Michelle. A cape could also be a good winter option.

I love the idea of a cape just don’t know how it would look with my current straps, I’ve only seen it on strapless dresses.

I may be spending sometime outdoors. There’s alpacas at the barn and I’d love outdoor pictures.

Many capes on Etsy have strapped dresses on the models and don't look weird at all

I think your dress looks gorgeous as is. What about wearing a shawl or cape?

I may go with something like the top picture just wasn’t sure if it’d look weird with no sleeves in real life, not on a model lol

The asymmetrical design with ruching ( the gathered pleats) was very popular with designers for several years, but Maggie Sottero still shows several every year. Why I asked- Maggie Sottero and a lot of designers, have a blog or designer page where they show that they have designed very specific personalization and customization, in the form of sleeves, bodice alterations with Illusion , straps, detachable trains, jackets. Some they put on the site. For example On Maggiesottero.com Look at dress Reeve. swipe, and you see the basic sleeveless, and then with added sleeve. Just looking at a lot gives you an idea, same dress, plus a wrap, or sleeves. You can buy many units, sleeves, train, all ready for the dressmaker to attach.
